There is a becalming. Vision and sound are obscured by a thick, unnatural fog. A ballista bolt strikes clean through the wheel and a section of deck becomes aflame. Amid the shouting, a figure strides through the flames, the light glinting from their golden, skeletal form. A vicious curved blade flashes out, smoking and black.

The most infamous pirate on Urvén, scourge of the Riven Lands, Admiral Chazbar the Gilded is a Defiant in command of a fleet of pirate fleets. He is renowned for exceptionally violent tactics - preferring to strike with overwhelming force before parley or negotiation and simply retrieving valuables from the sea floor. His fleet is crewed exclusively with Defiant and undead creatures; this allows the ships to remain at sea for extended periods of time with minimal supplies.

Chazbar the Gilded has struck seafarers and settlements across the entirety of the Riven Lands over a period of at least eighty years. His attacks are often initiated with magic spells that obscure vision before a withering combination of arcane assault, ballistae, ramming and, finally, in-person combat is used to defeat his victims or cause a surrender. Tales speak of there always being at least one survivor; perhaps to incentivise surrender or to simply guarantee that an account can be given.

Chazbar himself is a skilled duelist with other, poorly documented abilities that survivors speak of in broken fearful words. Rumours of a smoking, black blade and terrifying apparitions follow his fleet.

Physical Description

Body Features

As a Defiant, Chazbar is an animated skeleton. A keen medical eye may recognise that he is originally of half-orc stock. In the early years of his success, Chazbar underwent a process during which he coated himself in molten gold. Now, his skeletal form is untarnished gold.

Facial Features

As a Defiant, Chazbar does not have facial features. However, he darkens the inside of his eye sockets to contrast his golden form.

Apparel & Accessories

Chazbar wears a stylised naval overcoat in black, worn and frayed at the edges leaving most of his torso exposed. He has a dark-grey hooded cloak that drifts eerily behind him, ignoring the wind and other movement. He wields a smoking, black scimitar and utilises a selection of other magical items.

Wealth & Financial state

Chazbar is almost certainly the richest pirate on the seas. He commands a fleet of seven ships from his frigate, Marie's Repose - a sturdy vessel with a gold-plated ram and off-black sails. Decades of plunder imply hidden hauls but no foolhardy treasure-seeker has ever made it known that they have discovered anything.
