Derrick & Sons Lumber Company
The finest wood in all of Dunsland. Operates camps on the northeastern border of the God's Hope woods.
"Five silver" comes the short, if not quite impolite, reply. The solidly constructed chair changes ownership, being thrown to the back of a wagon bound for Teris. It would make a good reading chair.
Within Dunsland, on the northeastern edge of the God's Hope woods, the Derrick & Sons Lumber Company produces logs, planks and other wooden materials for sale. It is the largest producer of such items in Dunsland and many homes have sections or furniture shaped from wood sourced from Derrick & Sons. There are a few permanent buildings onsite, as well as several camp buildings that are regularly moved to the location of current work.
Oak, ash, beech and elm are the most common trees within the God's Hope woods, so these are the items the company sells. Each has slightly different uses and the company has a workshop area for producing finished products such as barrels and simple furniture.
Industry & Trade
The company earns money in three main ways:
Assets
The company settlement has all the tools required for lumberjacking and treating wood. The workshop is well stocked and the site has two barns for storing lumber and products.
Architecture
The permanent constructions - the company shop/office, bunkhouse, workshop and barns - are all solid wood constructions which stand in contrast to the architecture commonly found in Dunsland. The buildings are all carefully waterproofed with tar to avoid the damaging of products. The company also has a pair of camps that are relocated to whereever the most work is currently being completed. These are fashioned from stout, upright poles and crossbeams that hold aloft large canvas sheets for shade and shelter.
Natural Resources
Wood - oak, elm, beech and ash; forest herbs, fungi and fruit; a small quantity of pelts and meat from traps and hunting.
