Mustoir

The city of Mustoir lies at the confluence of the rivers Grein and Darine, at the north eastern tip of Lasse. The city is best known as the capital of Arcane magic within the Flussland - the city's skyline is dominated by the five sparkling spires of the Torres of Mustoir. Lying on the rivers and with major road links to Rosiloff, Lassiton, Tecard and Darstad, the city benefits from high levels of trade and travellers.

Government

As a city of Lasse, Mustoir is traditionally ruled by a Duke. The last duke - Mathion Paucard - was assassinated 5 years ago, along with most of his court and all his relatives. The assassination was blamed on the torres, and the Emperor dispatched the Acarian Military to keep the peace. The city remains under partial martial law at present.

Defences

The eastern district has fortified walls around the extended palace grounds, but the western districts sprawl out around the Torres with no fortifications.

Industry & Trade

Much of the population work in service of the wizards, whose income is primarily sourced from enchanting and alchemical work across the Flussland. Most others work in typical trade or craft, but there is no high mastery of any of these in Mustoir.

Infrastructure

The five spires of the Torres of Mustoir, glittering with gem enrusted tiles, are spaced out in a perfect pentagon with the confluence of the rivers in the centre. Each tower is surrounded by halls and quadrangles housing the wizards who live and study there.   On the eastern bank of the Dar, opposite the confluence, stands the sprawling Paucard mansion, seat of the Duke of Mustoir. Its extensive grounds, along with smaller manor houses, form most of the buildings on the eastern bank. The south western quarter houses the trade and industry district, with the north western housing more craftsmen, hospitality and middle class residential.   Multiple high bridges span the rivers, which are always teeming with boats large and small.

Guilds and Factions

By far the most important factions in Mustoir are the 5 torres and the palace. The tension between the torres themselves and between the wizards and the nobility has always been a source of political conflict within the town.

Tourism

Travellers often visit Mustoir to acquire the services of the Torres. Most commonly, they wish to receive divination or abjuration services to predict their future or protect their wealth.

Architecture

Most buildings in Mustoir are built in the local sandstone and are simple in construction. The palace and manors are built of imported limestone, but much of the palace now has a marble facade. The spires of the torres themselves are so heavily adorned it's hard to determine what kind of stone they may have been built from, but the surrounding halls are typically sandstone.
