Oakey Doakey
Oakey Doakey is a moderate sized town in the south west of Lasse. It lies just off the coastal road, but about 20 miles from the sea itself. The towns inhabitants are mostly halflings, who lead a simple life farming the surrounding countryside for grains, pigs and fruit.
The town itself is a group of small wooden houses and businesses, with a large wooden complex in the centre of town. This central hall, known as Hornwood Hall, is the seat of the local Baron Magnerus Hornwood, but also acts as a meeting place and social venue for the local population. Surrounding Hornwood Hall are a number of other larger dwellings for the minor noble families.
Demographics
The population is almost exclusively Lassan halflings (stout traits). There are half a dozen or so noble families based in the town, but the majority are "commoners".
Government
Magnerus Hornwood and his court have control over the local laws. The court makes its money predominantly from taxation on produce and from entertainment. They put on fortnightly social gatherings in the hall which are well attended by the population, and while the entertainment is free the food and drink are not. Given the food and drink is taken directly from the farms as tax, and locals volunteer to provide it, this is almost entirely profit. Magnerus also owns the breweries.
Industry & Trade
There is plentiful food produced in the local area, but produce is traded both in and out to increase the variety of food available. The common folk will mostly eat breads, fruit and cured meat, except at the fortnightly parties. The most valuable exports are the ciders and beers.
Assets
Oakey Doakey has a plentiful supply of food, and makes rather excellent scrumpy style ciders and hoppy ales.
Architecture
Almost all buildings in Oakey Doakey are built out of the local oak, but many are painted in greens and blues.
