Lassiton

Lassiton is the capital city of Lasse, a large and mostly affluent city located in the centre of the Lassan plain. Aside from Darstad, Lasse is the most populous city in the Flussland. Within Lasse, Darimouth and Mustoir provide the major trade routes in and out of Lasse, with their large natural waterways, but when Lasse was united some 500 or so years ago it was Lassiton that was chosen as the capital with its central location, ample space to grow, and excellent terroir in the nearby hills for wine.

Defences

The inner city is surrounded by a wall, but the myriad gates through it are never closed (some are even missing), and the wall is not patrolled. The outer city benefits from no real defensive structures, although patches of the original outer wall can still be found making up the walls of larger buildings. These are located well within the city proper as it stands now.

Districts

The original settlement of Lassiton, Gretongré, is now located to the northern part of the city. Centered around an ancient ford of the river Greton which runs through the city, it is most commonly now referred to as "Old Lassiton".
The inner city was built on a low hillock to the south of Gretongré, and has now become the most central location within the city. As a planned centre of the nobility, it is spatious with wide avenues and large manor houses, lined with fruit trees. Some nobles even maintain small vineyards in their gardens. The inner city has maintained its perimeter wall, but it is largely non functional now.
Around the inner city lie 5 other districts in addition to Old Lassiton, which once formed the outer city. These are much more densely populated, with each district having one or more major centres for businesses and social gatherings, surrounded by dense streets with multi-storey housing. Outside the old city wall spread another 10 or so smaller districts, many of which are relatively impoverished.

Points of interest

In the centre of the Inner City lies the Castle of Alentou, although "castle" is a strong description for what is effectively a palatial manor house with very limited defensive features. The Grand Hall of the Kapok also lies within this inner district, although despite its name it is rather smaller than than many halls in other cities, as it only houses administrative functions and offices for the high ranking of the order. Grand dinners are typically hosted at the residences of members of the order, and there is a barracks with stabling located on the outskirts of the city for visiting lower ranking knights.
Clarisse Bennelin lives in one of the smaller manor houses on the outskirts of the inner city, and will be happy to accommodate Kyrie and friends.

Architecture

Most buildings in Lassiton are stone built, constructed from local Limestone. Some inner city buildings are built from marble imported from the west. Most rooves are clay tiled, but important buildings may have intricate patterns of slate tiles.

Geography

The river Greton flows from north to south through the city, rounding through the Eastern districts outside the inner city wall. A smaller stream - the Auber - flows into the Western districts and south to join the Greton.
