  • Contraband. You have access to the Longstraw' business in contraband, such as poisons or narcotics. You don’t receive a discount on these goods, but you can always find someplace on the coast to purchase them.
  • Fences. Members or associates of the Longstraw are skilled at disposing of stolen goods, and you have access to this service as well. Fences are useful for selling not just illicit goods but also expensive items such as works of art and Magic items. When using the Longstraw’ fences, the Longstraw takes 20 percent of the sale price as a finder’s fee.
  • Safe Houses. The Longstraw maintains secret hiding spots across costal cities, such as warehouse or smugglers' coe. Your group knows how to locate these nondescript redoubts and can maintain a poor lifestyle in one for no cost. Revealing a safe house, whether purposefully or by accident, causes you to lose favor with the Longstraw and may see you banned from using them.

Hierarchy

The Longstraw pirates are led by whomever bears the title of Kraken King. As ruler of the Longstraw, The Kraken King allows the numerous pirating vessels of the faction the use of Tortuga as a place of refuge to trade and sell their ill gotten goods as well as for the repair and maintenance of their ships at no cost. However, the Kraken King expects a percentage of all earnings from their activities as tribute each time they come to port regardless of the need for those services at the time.   Additionally, the Kraken King holds the responsibility of maintaining a basic system of law and order amongst The Longstraw's members. In the event of a major dispute between two or more Longstraw members pertaining to the breaking of the law, their case is brought before the Kraken King at which point the parties argue their cases and the Kraken King makes judgement accordingly. If one party is found to be at fault, depending on the severity of the offence, the offending party may be sentenced to pay some form of restitution to the offended party or may even be put to Death if the Kraken King deems it suitable.

History

In the year 1129 AD, the Longstraw Pirates found themselves under the governance of the original Kraken King, Hunnis Breeah, who had held sway for 25 years. However, despite his prolonged tenure as the Kraken King, little to no effort had been exerted in the pursuit of the elusive Cloven Crystals. Tromokratis, the ancient kraken empowering the Kraken King, grew weary of Hunnis' complacency, gradually sapping his power and selecting a new champion: Yrial Maranoss.   Yrial, disenchanted with Breeah's increasingly lackadaisical demeanor, challenged him for leadership and successfully led an uprising against the former Kraken King. Following the demise of Breeah, Yrial assumed the position for himself, reigning over the Longstraw Pirates from that moment onward.   Upon seizing the mantle of Kraken King, Yrial swiftly solidified his authority through displays of strategic brilliance, equitable judgments, and ruthless reprisals. To temper periods of unrest or discontent, he frequently hosted raucous, alcohol-fueled revelries for his subordinates.
