Hierarchy
The Longstraw pirates are led by whomever bears the title of
Kraken King. As ruler of the Longstraw, The Kraken King allows the numerous pirating vessels of the faction the use of Tortuga as a place of refuge to trade and sell their ill gotten goods as well as for the repair and maintenance of their ships at no cost. However, the Kraken King expects a percentage of all earnings from their activities as tribute each time they come to port regardless of the need for those services at the time.
Additionally, the Kraken King holds the responsibility of maintaining a basic system of law and order amongst The Longstraw's members. In the event of a major dispute between two or more Longstraw members pertaining to the breaking of the law, their case is brought before the Kraken King at which point the parties argue their cases and the Kraken King makes judgement accordingly. If one party is found to be at fault, depending on the severity of the offence, the offending party may be sentenced to pay some form of restitution to the offended party or may even be put to Death if the Kraken King deems it suitable.
History
Succession
In the year 1129 AD, the Longstraw Pirates found themselves under the governance of the original Kraken King, Hunnis Breeah, who had held sway for 25 years. However, despite his prolonged tenure as the Kraken King, little to no effort had been exerted in the pursuit of the elusive Cloven Crystals.
Tromokratis, the ancient kraken empowering the Kraken King, grew weary of Hunnis' complacency, gradually sapping his power and selecting a new champion: Yrial Maranoss.
Yrial, disenchanted with Breeah's increasingly lackadaisical demeanor, challenged him for leadership and successfully led an uprising against the former Kraken King. Following the demise of Breeah, Yrial assumed the position for himself, reigning over the Longstraw Pirates from that moment onward.
Upon seizing the mantle of Kraken King, Yrial swiftly solidified his authority through displays of strategic brilliance, equitable judgments, and ruthless reprisals. To temper periods of unrest or discontent, he frequently hosted raucous, alcohol-fueled revelries for his subordinates.
Pirate's crystal conflict
The Longstraw Pirates rely on the Kraken King to command them. However, the Kraken king possesses his power thanks to a pact with Tromokratis. This pact forces him to seek and destroy cloven crystals, sealing him under the Gulf of Calamity.
However, the
Great Sea Civilization protect those crystals.
First Cyrstal (sea Elves)
The Kraken king asked Wellan, a member of the crew of the Garrot under Sam Bellamy order to spy on his captain for him, Wellan agreed, and was first tasked with getting informations from Katarina Nessi, a priate who had studied the crytal.
Reports from
Tarek Harborlan, a member of Katarina's ship, and a spy for the Kraken king allows the king to know of the alliance created between Katarina Nessi, and Sam Bellamy.
After which, Wellan Journeyed to
Vellamorn where a first crystal was stored and protected by the sea elves. The crystal was stolen, and rumors of Wellan, the tiefling who managed to steal it spread among the seas aas the sea elves looked for him.
However, Wellan did not report a successful operation to the kraken king, claiming someone else maanged to steal the crystal before him. The Kraken king did not believe the last report of Wellan and sent more of his men to check on him and on the Garrot. Snake Eye on her Ghost ship chased Wellan and Sam Bellamy, looking for answers on behalf of the king.
Snake eye and her crew manage to intercept the Garrot, and search it. Unable to find the crystal, they report Wellan reports to be truthful and leave the Garrot alone.
Katarina finally came back to Tortuga isle, where she met to discuss with the kraken king, however, she challenged his authority, revealing she also had power bestowed by the Tromokratis. This led to a confrontation between the two, and Katarina barely managed to escape as Tortuga isle started to chase after her and her ship.
Tortuga Isle, now trying to follow Katarina's ship, and she use this opportunity to try and lead them to the triton's terriotry, hoping to spark a conflict between the tritons and pirates that she could benefit from.
Marjani located the Cloven Crystal in the diver's grave, making its access extremly hard and dangerous, and preventing marjani from accessing and destroying it immediatly.
The presence of tortuga isle on the Triton's territory create a huge turmoil, as the vast majority of Triton's forces launched an assault on the living island. This caused the kraken king to retreat, delaying him in his chase for Katarina.
This event also led the great sea civilization to link the theft of one of the cloven crystal to the longstraw pirates, pirate ships are now attacked on sight by member of the great sea civilization, and the coast of the hobgoblin empire are swarmed by sea elves.
The garrot and its crew, after the end of the alliance with Katarina, sail west to the
Gulf of mermaids. The kraken king, hearing the news of the alliance with Tarek is glad to know Wellan on his side, but ask for more detailed reports on their position and intentions.
Second Crystal (Merfolks)
Once they are close enough to the gulf of mermaids, after 4 months sailing near the coast to avoid the sea elves, the kraken king order the garrot crew to head to the diver's grave to help Marjani.
3 days underwater lead wellan, 4 of his men and 20 merfolks to the lair of Dashila, were they encounter marjani fighting with the sea fury. Wellan reveal his allegiance to the pirates, betraying the merfolk and killing the sea fury as marjani seize the crystal
The location magic used by the sea elves to follow the garrot lead them to warn the merfolk again that the ship should be in their domain, this and the sudden interuption of report after they enter dashila's lair force the merfolk to be worried, and to try and stop the garrot who is forced to flee without wellan, rudy and rixa to avoid the merfolk warth.
Regrouping in tortuga
Forced to flee without their 3 members, the garrot try to reach nicodranas to meet with the crew of the Opium. However, new of the stolen crystal have reached even Tana's empire, who's pressured into sending fleets of ships to scan the ocean looking for the pirates to avoid the merfolks' anger.
This prevent the pirate from joining in Nicodranas, and it is decided they should all meet on Tortuga island directly.
