Characteristics
Physical features
Yrial is a youthful individual with a mane of soft ginger hair framing his face, and two sizable bunny ears protruding from the top of his head. His captivating deep blue eyes gleam with charisma, often accompanied by a warm smile. His skin bears the trace of sun exposure, displaying a healthy tan, while a substantial scar runs from his right shoulder down to his chest. On his opposite shoulder, a tattoo serves as an homage to his patron: a massive, swirling blue tentacle enveloped by cascading waters.
Mental traits
Yrial's welcoming and inclusive nature hides a more brutal and distrusting personality. He can switch from making threats to joking in mere seconds. Appearing to be deeply unstable, he wishes to keep his position of power in Tortuga. He also has a penchant for subterfuge, willing to pay new acquaintances to spy for him.
Maranoss holds himself up as a sort of intellectual, paying people to bring him political information so that he can lord that over the riff-raff of Tortuga.
History
The attack
1104 AD
Yrial was just a child, serving among a large crew of pirates and doing chores when the ship was attacked by tritons. Among the underwater creature was a beautiful woman named Gwen Stacy who seized control of the ship, claiming her revenge on the pirates who had done her wrong in the past.
Yrial wasn't part of the crew yet when it happened, and thanks to that he was spared by Gwen. Yrial followed Gwen and became a part of her new crew.
The Rise of the Pirate Queen
1104 AD through 1129 AD
Gwen began hunting pirates, uniting those willing to follow her and eliminating those who opposed her. Over time, she amassed a formidable fleet and declared herself the Pirate Queen. Yrial, who had followed her since the beginning grew into a good companion, and became the second in command, advising Gwen as she controlled the pirates. Redirecting them away from the tritons or the rivers of her home clan.
Later on, Gwen made a pact with a creature, the Tromokratis to gain the power to properly unite the pirates, and with Yrial's advice, she accepted this power in exchange she would seek and destroy the cloven crystals.
In 110 AD, with Tromokratis' power, Gwen declared herself the Kraken Queen and solidified her rule over the
Longstraw Pirates. She became a terror of the southern seas, her fleet spreading her influence far and wide. Yet, her quest for the Cloven Crystals revealed Tromokratis’ enmity toward the tritons who had saved her. This revelation shook Gwen's loyalty to Tromokratis, weakening her power.
Betrayal and Downfall
1129 AD
Tromokratis began to whisper directly to Yrial, as Gwen's devotion changed, the titan turned to others to accomplish his goal. Yrial through Gwen's original ambition was noble, but the restriction it imposed on the longstraw pirates only held them back. And as Tromokratis began to whisper, he saw an opportunity to seize power for himself and to lead the pirates to glory.
He betrayed Gwen, and killed her, becoming the new chosen champion of Tromokratis.
Betrayal and Downfall
1129 AD to 1135 AD
Upon seizing the mantle of Kraken King, Yrial swiftly solidified his authority through displays of strategic brilliance, equitable judgments, and ruthless reprisals. To temper periods of unrest or discontent, he frequently hosted raucous, alcohol-fueled revelries for his subordinates.
In recent months, Yrial engaged in an affair with
Marjani Flintwill.
