That's disgusting! I can't believe I ended up having to do such an unholy thing
— Faust von Verurteilung
Faust von Verurteilung, born into Tana Empire's influential noble family, boasts a slim frame with pale skin and long, snow-white hair. History

Backstory

Faust von Verurteilung was born in a noble, very influential family in Tana Empire. He was spoiled since his childhood, especially after the divorce of his parents. Faust was too young to understand the reasoning and seeing his mother leave his side took a heavy toll on him, making him care less about things that matter in life and focus on wealth. He kept in touch with her, and regularly saw her.   His father, more often than not away for an important business, or a politic dinner was also absent from the household most of the time, letting Faust grow with the caprice of a child born with a silver spoon in his mouth. The servants obeying the young master's orders and seeing to his every need.   The noble family friend covering him with gifts and pampering him didn't help, and Faust grew up as an introvert. As a teen, Faust had to play a role he never asked for, acting according to the etiquette with every interaction, something he didn't enjoy even if it was the only interaction he had.   When he felt overwhelmed by the duties of nobility, Faust found comfort in archery. Venturing in the woods when he escaped from his duty and training in the art of archery.   As he became an adult he still tried to reconcile his parents but with no success. He judged his parents for their decisions but ended up drowning his sorrow in material wealth and evaded his responsibilities as the heir of the noble family even more.   At the beginning, his father always closed an eye to the irresponsible Faust but one day, an important contract failed, as the contractor heard Faust's reputation and refused to deal with the von Verurteilung. This was enough, and Lewis kicked Faust out of the house with barely a few coins to survive, hoping this would teach the young man a lesson.   Faust wouldn't be allowed back home before he learned the value of the wealth he enjoyed.
You dishonored me, you dishonored the von Verurteilung title, do not show up here or at any of our properties until you've learned the value of every coin you've spent
Initially, Faust went to find his mother for help but as he expected, she was nowhere to be found, 'probably too busy in another of her affairs' Faust. His relationship with his mother had worsened over the years, especially as Faust refused to fully embrace his noble duties but he continued to exchange letters from time to time.   Faust thought of his father's words as a bluff and used his coin to pay himself a trip to Megima. Arriving in the elven capital, he went to the wealthiest inn, ordered a feast, and drank the most expensive wines.   When the moment to pay inevitably came, Faust invoked his family's name, yet no one listened, no one paid for him and he realized he was alone. The Soldiers of the Qwir refused to hear his story and arrested him.

Campaign

When Faust was arrested in Megima and was forced to work with a group of misfit adventurers, Creyola Nepomuk, Galad Ithil, Jade, Marilith and Orianna. He had a hard time adjusting to those new companions, even if he started to loosen up. Some of his comrades judged him because of his origin, and this made it hard for him to trust them.   He tried his best to guide them toward what he believed to be the best path for them, teaching them proper manners on occasion, and gracing them with his wisdom, especially as the group started to work with the elven rebels. But just like he taught them some things about nobility, Faust learned a lot about life and even became an expert in drink contests.   Faust hated the rebels and every interaction with their leader, Varia, and Vali made him despise them even more, to the point where he started plotting ways to eliminate them, to eliminate the threat they represented for the empire he cherished and to prevent their plan of destruction and chaos.   However, Faust knew he was too weak to face them alone, and he wasn't sure his companion's ideals would be aligned with his, therefore he never dared to request their help, and followed their decision waiting for the right moment to strike. As nothing could make him betray his hometown, Holypertuis.   The rebels' quest led him and his companion to the Feywild. A place where his pride was deeply hurt when they had to deal with the queen of the Archfey who didn't recognize the Von Verurteilung name and refused to acknowledge his status as a noble.   If it wasn't for the perils the empire was facing because of the rebels, Faust would have started a vendetta against the queens of the Summer Court who neglected him.   After their expedition in the feywilds, the group of adventurers were sent to the Elemental Plane of Fire. A place Faust despised, the scorching heat making the archer quite uncomfortable.   In addition to the burden of the Heat, Faust thought the moment he would face his companion to protect his ideal came when Jade's power awakened and she became the embodiment of the Phoenix. With such great powers, the rebels' plan against Tana's Empire would be unstoppable.   But the archer was happy to realize Jade's power would never serve the Rebels, as she despised them probably just as much as Faust after what they'd done to the Phoenix.   The situation quickly escalated after that, as the group faced the rebels head-on, creating an uncontrolled rift between the plane of fire and the material plane.   The chaos provoked by this rift brought Tana's empire army to the edge of the Wood of the Vale, and Faust played a key role in the discussion as it was revealed his father was part of the noble delegation accompanying the army.   While his father was in tears at the news of his son alive, as he had been dead since he joined the elven rebels, Faust wasn't as emotional, Faust had grown a lot and was not looking for his father's approval anymore, he was a completely different man.   Despite their differences, they worked together to counter the rebels' plan, and Faust played a strategic role in the organization of the empire's forces.

After the campaign

With everything settled, and the big change brought to the empire, Faust had many opportunities, his name was now known around the empire, not as the heir of the rich von Verurteilung family, but as the protector of the Vale.   One thing was for sure, Faust wouldn't follow his father's footsteps, and he wouldn't take on the responsibilities of managing the family business. However, his father was now proud of him for his free spirit, and the lesson he learned, even if some of his old habits still transpire, Faust is a lot more open-minded now.   During the adventure, Faust started to fall for the dangerous sorceress Jade. She was the one most aggressive towards him at the beginning but that might have moved him. Jade was also the first woman he desired who did not seem interested at all, picking his interest. But Jade's power dooming her to turn into the Phoenix made this romance impossible.   Emperor Charle III Tana himself heard of Faust's prowess during the conflict, and offered the ranger a position by his side, as one of his advisors in military strategy, and a diplomate with the new elven king.
