Suon-Saelian War

War that was fought between the suon and saelian species shortly after the suons' Tebburus Unification War.

After the unification war, a period of peace and rebuilding followed. Recovering from the brutal unification wars and now unified under one ideology, suon society became far more powerful than it ever was before. They were looking to conquer their home system from the saelians who occupied all the bodies in space beyond Tebburus. Despite the massive size of Tebburus, the Saelian Coalition occupied vastly more planets than the newly formed United Nations of Tebburus so the latter had to go on the offensive to prevent a future of slavery. They knew that the saelian coalition wanted to enslave the suon species.

Tiact System

The suon home system is called the Tiact System.

Suon forces could not conquer them on their own. As such, they instead exploited espionage and organized a number of massive rebellions within saelian society. At the same time, they declared war on the Coalition and, making use of the vast amount of resources available on Tebburus, managed to push the saelians from Muna and Duskus.

After the suons obtained complete control of Tebburun skies, they turned their ships inwards towards Tiotus, the warm gas giant in a slightly lower orbit than Tebburus. At this point, the saelians had time to prepare and the suons launched a massive assault. They chose to attack this planet first as it has a lot of resources including its 7 moons.

They then split their forces to take the Lazolla-Haxis binary system as well as Zatolla. They had to put pressure on the saelian forces in order to make them divert more forces to the suon-saelian front rather than the rebels, as the rebels could strike the saelian core worlds and cripple their economy supporting the war. This seems to have worked, as they turned the Xolater belt into a fortress. After that they attacked Vannus.

The attack on the Xolater Belt was one of the hardest parts of the war but it was important to attack, else it gives time for the saelian forces to organize and oppress the rebellions. Suon forces acted quickly and attacked. They were victorious, but suffered a lot of casualties.

Now they could launch attacks on the outermost planets in the system. The suons have fortified the belt but focus on offense, mainly building new ships to attack with. As the planets get further from Tiact, the semi-major axis increase exponentially. This can significantly increase travel times between each planet, without the use of FTL technologies. These technologies have started development around the eve of the suon-saelian war, and have seen many improvements since the start of the war, in both reliability and speed. These have seen little use for the innerworlds for these reasons, but have begun to see greater use now that they have improved they are sometimes seen moving supplies between the innerworlds of Tiact.

The outerworlds were also much colder, which increased the necessity of developing stronger heatsinks. The suons have quickly sent a number of test craft away from Tiact to test new heatsink designs. They have not yet developed the QEN , and as such their ships have massive radiators currently. However, they understood that the outerworlds were possibly more important to capture than the innerworlds, as they had far more resources. 2 of the Tiact system's 3 gas giants were there, as well as Isat, and each of those gas and ice giants had a number of moons orbiting them, meaning many resources to extract. Additionally, there were also the ultra-outerworlds, consisting of dwarf planets and small asteroids which the saelians have also set up a small number of mines on. That sector was quite easy for the suons to isolate and capture.

The Star Cluster

After conquering the Tiact system, the suons would have to improve their FTL technologies further to take their forces to a new star system entirely. The saelians thought they could not leave the Tiact system due to the short range of their FTL drives. They were preparing a massive counterattack. This has caused much of the suon species to develop a high quality design of FTL drive very quickly. Such an effort did not come cheaply. The new tachyon radar was designed much more easily, using components of tachyon cannons in a way that was more comparable to radar technology. Using tachyon radars, they could detect saelian forces across star systems, which even the saelians could not do without recon forces.

Taking this into account, the first star system they attacked was the Alpha Canarai System system due to its comparative lack of saelian forces at the time. The saelians were surprised and suon forces have managed to take over much of the system before the saelians could send a significant force there. At this point, the saelians have started to realise that the suons could actually defeat them. As the United Nations of Tebburus has increased its propaganda efforts, more rebellions happened within saelian society and the suon forces pushed yet harder. The rebels have caused a number of delays with the saelian reinforcement which has allowed the suons to liberate many more planets.

In their initial jump to the Alpha Canarai system, many ships have been lost. They were using a drive design with little testing beyond warping from one end of the Tiact system to the other, in order to preserve surprise. As such, many ships were lost in transit between the Tiact and Alpha Canarai systems. Many of these ships were being rescued by smaller, civilian ships with little crew requirement, as the suons had far fewer numbers and had to make up for it. After conquering this system, they began launching attacks on others, which often had fewer resources and more enemy forces as the saelians were preparing to attack Tiact. After optimizing their FTL methods though, the UN of Tebburus saw a massive reduction of casualties resulting from travelling between star systems. Their technology made FTL travel very safe and reliable very quickly, because it was a necessity and they already had the technology for it.

This allowed them to stage larger attacks on these other systems. Now also with improved tachyon cannons which have crippled many saelian heavy ships from the Tiact system, they could launch offensives with an advantage.

They have soon reached the Marakas System. This was a large system for the saelians, as a large portion of their economy was situated there. It was much easier to stage attacks in the Marakas system because of its very small size reducing travel times massively. Additionally, this was a point of significant rebellion, and when the suons arrived they could communicate with the rebels more effectively and the rebels have managed to immobilize a part of the saelian navy here. Suons have thus captured the system very quickly, a few members of the rebellion joining them but most of the population continued their normal lives.

Another important system they have attacked was the Lambda Raltais System. This contained a large number of habitable planets and resources, and was a binary star system. However, it was well defended and very defendable, due to the huge number of asteroids in the asteroid belts. The saelian forces could remain concealed more easily and swarm any suon craft that approaches. They knew this strategy worked from the fight around the Xolater Belt, as they have inflicted a lot of casualties on suon forces with relative ease, despite the Xolater belt eventually falling.

Suon forces then decided to flank the saelians through the Delta Antilae System. They have managed to encircle a saelian system with this maneuver and has gained them even more momentum through saelian territory. There is a large spatial rift nearby, preventing forces from moving form the main section of saelian territory to most points behind the Delta Antilae system, which makes it an excellent flanking position. The saelians did not want to lose such a strategic location, and have placed a large military force in the system. These were quite hard to hit with tachyon cannons due to the limited space and the rift. The Delta Antilae system consist of 3 stars as a trinary system and thus had a lot of plantes and resources available, making it valuable.

Ukots System

Finally, the suons could attack the saelian home system, the Ukots System, but they would never give up without a fight. Though the end was in sight, this system would be far better defended than any other, and many suon forces were preoccupied with attacking and defending other saelian systems nearby.

The Ukots system was in the approximate center of saelian territory, of which the suons have occupied roughly half so far. The war was not likely to end at Ukots, unless the suons could dismantle the saelian government with only these systems. Regardless, the fall of the Ukots system was highly likely to cripple the Saelian Coalition and bring an easier and quicker end to the war. This system had a massive number of enemy defences that the suons could not hope to breach. Instead, they relied partially on the rebellions who would prevent them from activating some of the defences or in some cases, using saelian weapons against saelian forces. This would not cause capitulation on its own, and so the suons deployed their own massive force while the saelian forces were preoccupied with dealing with the rebellion. All 3 sides have fought hard for the system and all 3 sides have suffered heavy casualties, and a lot of damage to saelian infrastructure, especially on Cela. Through the war, the suons have kept lines of communication to the rebels, but now with very little distance to travel they could now keep a much closer line of communication to the rebels without risking saelian military interception. Using this, the suons have managed to attack any location during or immediately after a rebellion, allowing them to use their forces at maximum power while the respective saelian defenders were weakened. This strategy has slowly earned them the conquest of the Ukots system, but at a massive price. It has taken a very long time to recover the economies of both species, even as they were cooperating.
