Xolater Belt
Asteroid belt around the outer planetary orbits of the Tiact System. It occupies an orbit higher than Zatolla. Due to the huge radius of the orbits, the belt is extremely expansive and was used by the Saelian Coalition while Suons were pre FTL to hide from them.
The belt is quite dense relative to other asteroid belts. This has made it an optimal place to launch guerilla attacks from, which naturally made it difficult for the United Nations of Tebburus to attack during the suon-saelian war, especially given the relative inexperience in space warfare of the suon race at the time. This has caused them to assault the outer worlds after conquering the inner worlds.
The asteroid belt also has large deposits of various minerals. This can range from common metals such as iron to rare metals or even radioactive isotopes. The latter of these are less useful as most factions have fusion reactor technology. They still have a number of niche uses though, so are still mined. These radioactive materials can be dangerous to some species, but most starships are already equipped with some form of radiation shield anyway.
As such, the Saelian Coalition did build a number of mining stations on the belt, so even if a craft was found, the United Nations of Tebburus would still need to identify it before they could destory it (they actively tried to not shoot civilian targets).
Initially upon reaching the Xolater belt, the suons were already suspicious that there could be enemy forces there. They initially deployed small recon forces to find out, and as almost all of the recon forces were destroyed, the suons now had evidence of this saelian blockade. They had to expand however, so could not end the war here. They had to attack. This was an important strategic location of the saelians, as it was one of the few places where they were relatively safe from Tachyon Cannon fire. They could ambush forces using massive capital ships so this fortress of an asteroid belt did not fall easily. Suon forces flanked the asteroid belt from above and below, giving them more intel on enemy positions but revealing their own locations and while they could detect most saelian ships, they could not see all enemy forces present. Tens of thousands of suon ships were destroyed in the battle, leading to millions of suon deaths but the suon victory here was important, and the situation began to swing in their favour.
