Sideswipe Tower
Purpose / Function
Sideswipe tower is the western twin of the Sideswept Tower. The tower has a massive landing about halfway up it's height, which is engraved with an equally massive Mass Teleportation Circle. Once the Circle has been activated, it can be used teleport up to 100 people to the sister tower... or to another location entirely, if a magic user of sufficient skill is present and can cast some variation of the Teleport or Teleportation Circle spells.
Alterations
Currently, the lower, more open, levels of the tower have been repurposed into a thieves hideout. Ramshackle walls, bunks, a kitchen, storage and sparring areas now fill the large, open atrium at the base of the tower.
Architecture
Smooth white stone, engraved with mythril and adamantine magical runes, make this tower's magical nature obvious. The tower appears in the ancient Elven style, with smooth, flowing lines, silvery filigree, and exquisite detail.
History
The towers appear to have been constructed sometime early in the First Epoch (0-500 NG), before Humans had become the dominate race on Terra Main. Evidence points to Elven construction and the unusually potent magic contained within the towers only existed in the hands of the ancient Elven archmages during that time.
For reasons unknown, perhaps due simply to the encroaching Human civilization, the towers were abandoned sometime before the dawn of the Second Epoch (1000 NG).
During the Illithid Invasion (1426-1434NG), the Towers may have been used by the Army of New Genesis to either escape or infiltrate the Darkness emanating from Terra.
More recently (1901NG), there are rumors that an adventuring party managed to gain access to the teleportation floor of the tower, solve the riddle that locked away its magic, and used it to teleport a great number of leagues away.
The tower is currently occupied by a band of brigands known as The Spider Syndicate .
