Liefland

The ancestral home of the High Elves, Liefland, is only few leagues from the Terran city of Seavale. Despite that proximity, the island is like another world compared to the rest of NewGen. Separated from the mainland by a narrow channel and covered in an obscuring Mythal, Liefland is alien, distant, and unreachable to most. This Mythal was created thousands of years ago by the ancient High Elves, some say before the Gods codified (and limited) the rules of magic for mortals.   The High Elves of NewGen have almost completely shut themselves away from the rest of known world and turned their mastery over the arcane arts inward to advancing their island kingdom. Using a unique magical process, the Elves grow a form of living crystal into fantastical shapes, for a myriad purposes... buildings, tools, even vehicles. Their magic has reached such heights as too seem fantastical to even the most powerful human mages. Items such as personal sending stones, scrying screens, teleportation circles, magically cooled iceboxes, heated ovens, and even entire crystalline buildings temperature controlled and internally navigated by small, moving rooms... are all common on Liefland, especially in Amaxanaphia, its capital.   Liefland is not only home to the High Elves, but to all Elven sub-races, such as Moon Elves, Sun Elves, Sea Elves, and Wood Elves. The Drow, Shadar-Kai, and Half-Elves do not have a home here, though, for obvious reasons.  

The Mythal

For nearly two thousand years, the Mythal has covered Lifeland, protecting the Elves from threats, prying eyes, and even the Darkness during the Invasion of 1426 NG. The Mythal is a permanent, pervasive, and bounded magical affect that covers the entire island of Liefland and the surrounding sea for a league offshore. The effect of the Mythal is simple: all Elves (and Half-Elves) have Advantage on Attack Rolls and Saves while within the Mythal and all non-Elves have Disadvantage on Attack Rolls and Saves while within the confines of the Mythal. Skill checks are unaffected by the Mythal.  

Settlements on Liefland

Amaxanaphia ("Star Shine" in Common): The capital city of the High Elves. It sits like a glimmering, glowing crystal shard in the middle of a verdant river valley.   Faranthas ("Deep Grove" in Common): Home of the Wood Elves. Located in the heart of a verdant, sylvan forest, this city is built in and around the massive trees, high above the forest floor.   Galanodel ("Moon Whisper" in Common): Home of the Moon Elves. Every day, all day, the Sun is eclipsed by the Mythal, causing the city sit in perpetual magical twilight. Sits at the foot of a mountain range in the southern area of the island.   Ernathalus ("Bright Cove" in Common): Home of the Sea Elves. This elf city is a wonders to behold, crafted of living coral just as many elf cities on land are made from still-living trees. It gleams with mother of pearl and shells scoured bright, and among it twisting towers fish of a thousand colors swim.
