    Exodus of the Wyrms
    Disbandment

Many surviving dragons fled to remote strongholds, choosing to rule as warlords or hidden overlords, rather than attempting to restore the fallen empire.

  • The Rise of Man
    The Dark Age of Mortals
    Era beginning/end

With the fall of Aurix, the world plunged into a fragmented age. Former provinces became independent kingdoms, republics, or theocracies, while others fell into anarchy or were ruled by warlords. Many imperial highways and constructs decayed without dragonic maintenance, and arcane knowledge was hoarded or lost.

The legacy of Aurix remains etched into the bones of civilization. Some nations, like Scaelor, incorporated imperial systems into their own laws and hierarchies. Others see the empire as a cautionary tale, a monument to pride and tyranny.

Yet even in ruin, the name Aurix commands reverence. Its relics, ruins, and ancient texts continue to shape the Twisted Realms, and some whisper that a rebirth of the empire—under dragon or mortal rule, may one day come again.

    The Baozang Fleet
    Political event

The Baozang Fleet was a significant policy undertaken by the Prosperous Avatar of the Kang Dynasty. It signified a reversal in the Heavenly Mandate's isolationism, as it sent out a massive treasure fleet to the rest of the world, collecting tribute from nations and leaving unfathomable amounts of riches as thanks. Ultimately, this 'Treasure-Ship Diplomacy' was scrapped after the passing of the Prosperous Avatar, though it did result in many long-term changes for the Kang: including the start of regular diplomatic correspondence (permanent in the case of Frankonia, until the Expulsion) between the Realm of Heaven and other nations in the world.

    The Wrathful Expulsion
    Diplomatic action

In the backdrop of the Grand Betrayal, Frankonia's longstanding mission to the Kang was imperilled. A number of diplomatic staff were implicated as Templars and executed, though the Enduring Avatar of the Kang Dynasty had had enough, and used the Templar infiltration as the basis for expelling all Frankonian personnel from the Mandate. This was backed by military force, which ended in a month-and-a-half-long siege of the Frankonian legation. In the end, most of the Frankonian civilian and military personnel were saved by a joint evacuation effort consisting of the Septemvirate dynasties Dandale, Garderique, and Merandure, as well as the I Golden Legion.   This event marked the end of the only permanent foreign diplomatic mission to the Heavenly Mandate.
