The Ballet of Scales

The downfall of the Eternal Scaled Dominion came in a series of devastating conflicts known as the Ballet of Scales, a prolonged civil war and rebellion that ultimately shattered the empire.

The empire fractured into two warring factions the Chromatic Dragons, who sought to establish absolute dominance, and the Metallic Dragons, who believed in balance and governance alongside mortals. This ideological divide led to widespread destruction as entire regions were laid to waste by the warring sides.

After thousands of years of draconic tyranny across the Borrovyan continent, the suffering of the chromatic dragons subjects caught the attention of Bahamut, the platinum dragon. He and his children, the Metallic Dragons, had been living amongst the angels on Mount Celestia. However, when they finally took notice of the suffering Tiamat and her children were causing, Bahamut decided that it was time to return to the material plane. He and his children had left the material plane behind in favor of the celestial home of the angels, but now was the time for them to return and once again engage with their chromatic cousins. A conflict ensued that would destroy nations, shatter mountains and eradicate entire species. During this time the former subjects of the chromatic dragons would gather into great armies that would side with the metallic dragons. The war lasted over a hundred years and ended with the Battle of Shimmerpeak. After the war had ended, the chromatic dragons fled and went into hiding in fear of Bahamuts rage. Never again would the dragons attempt to openly rule the mortal races of the Twisted Realms.
