Telling Deck: Fauna Deck
Inner Deck
The Fauna Deck is one of four minor, or “Inner,” decks.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The Fauna Deck sports five animal cards, each with their own symbolic power and governance:
- Kkaxe, The Blackfeather - Transformation of Community
- We'ts'a, The Snake - Transformation of Self
- Wasa’i, The Bear - The unconscious, the dream truth, unintentional thresholds
- Bee - industriousness, labor, sustained practice and communal effort
- Spider - connection, cycle, wisdom
Significance
Rather than being tied to any one direction or to a linear narrative framework, instead these four decks as a whole engage the holistic balance of themes needed for well-roundedness.
As a structural mechanism, this deck contains themes of momentum and change in the circumstances of the Tole, leading some to associate the deck with the direction of Fern and its symbolic language of being "Hidden," "Wet," and "Covered." However, this is not necessarily standard Telling practice.
