Telling Deck: Stone Deck

Significance

As a structural mechanism, this deck follows the narrative of a hypothetical Tole on a journey to understand the self.
The Climber begins at the foothills, excited for the journey. The terrain is new and challenging, and the discovery of the ruins prompts opportunity but danger, and the Climber risks damaging or losing their supplies. Undeterred, the Climber continues, relying on the Forest for sustenance, but is taken captive by the inhabitants of the forest. The Climber is faced with the Knife, whose consequences of action have rippling effects. Freed from captivity, The Climber discovers the Pass, and must choose whether to make an expedient escape with little payoff, or to take the more difficult but more rewarding terrain. As they come to the Campfire, these choices lay the basis for their interactions with new strangers, who are gathered by the signals of smoke. In exchange for hospitality, The Climber is asked to visit the watering hole, to gather supply and look for opportunity. Their choices resupply themselves and/or the group, and the Climber bids farewell to the group and resumes their original passion. The journey over the Crags tests their resolve and experiences. As they reach the summit, the larger skein of their journey is laid flat and made clear.
Like the element of Peak it represents, this deck is considered to be Covered and Hidden: You must constantly test yourself and rediscover your limits, as each new experience creates a new threshold for you to approach
