Imperial Navy

The Imperial Navy is one of the largest and primary forces sailing The Azure Sea, possibly only challenged in might and numbers by the Hold of the Sea Princes and the fleets of the Antarian Navy. It comprises over 120 vessels outfitted for battle, as well as many more small coastal patrol ships.
The Navy is based in the Imperial capital, Keymouth, but also has a strong presence in many Imperial ports, and even some outside of the Empire.
First Sea Lord Khegdo Windprow is the person in charge of this huge organisation, and he answers only to Emperor Vilihame Jehen himself.
The Navy is primarily responsible for the defence of the Empire and its interests, though it is also used as a powerful tool to spread the Imperial way of life as well. Currently the Navy is heavily involved in defending Imperial merchant shipping due to the increased raids by ships of the Hold of the Sea Princes and others. The waters of Trent's Channel, at least as far as the Sharkhan Mangroves, are heavily patrolled.
The Imperial Navy works closely with the Cartographers' Guild of Keymouth, whom they employ as scouts.
The Navy is divided into three fleets. The First Fleet is harboured in Keymouth itself, and comprises the most warships of the fleets, some 80 in number. This fleet holds the main responsibility for the defence of the Empire.
The Second Fleet is harboured in Seaton and is primarily responsible for enforcing the laws of the Empire upon the waves, and guarding merchant shipping. It comprises roughly 40 warships.
The Reserve Fleet is comprised of training ships and recruits, and is primarily used for training, though it can be outfitted for war if required. This fleet is most active around the Chatneau Isles and Reyheller Gulf where almost constant training exercises take place.
There is an unofficial fourth fleet, the Dukesfleet, that patrols the Amber Coast region of the Empire.
The top of the line ships of the First Fleet are the only ones to carry cannons, and the use of Blackpowder, a valuable resource, is tightly controlled within the Empire.
