Dreuthekon Mountains
A ragged land of scattered boulders, thrown seemingly at random amongst the landscape, the Dreuthekon Mountains climb out of the eastern fringes of the Great Snowy Forest, rising steadily after a hundred and fifty leagues of endless pines. While not as tall as the majestic Frosted Mountains to the east, northern latitudes keep the taller peaks of the Dreuthekon snow covered year round. Below the snowline, tundra like fells with short chartreuse grasses and iron gray gardens of rock dominate a landscape sculpted by Kharl himself. The name of the range, in fact, means "garden of stone" in Khadric, the word holding connotations of both massive size and thoughtful intentionality.
These high altitude gardens make a vibrant home for marmots, voles, mice, foxes and eagles. As the elevation decreases, firs and other short conifers quickly take over, growing steadily in height as one descends from the high passes. Filled with fleet deer and ornery bears, shaggy oxen and prowling wolves, these forests thin in density as their trees soar in height in the deep valleys that slash through the lowlands.
Hidden away in between the peaks of stone and valleys of green giants are countless passes, chasms, and caves lost to history. Khardic place names like Kiernheim and Vorkallic and Khardin have long faded from maps beneath the shadows of the Dreuthekon's peaks. Even the hardiest of Khadric raiding parties skirt to the south of these mountains on route to their hunting grounds in the Orkish Hills, leaving only the occasional shadow of dragon's wings as witness to the majestic beauty of Kharl's garden.
