Brigid is one of the many bastard children sired by the patriarch of House Gruffyl. She inherited her father's sorcery, his distinctive multi-colored eyes, and his knack for telling honeyed lies but she has inherited little else and always resented him for essentially raping her mother.
Her mother died when she was young and like a lot of orphan (including orphan girls) she was apprenticed to a blacksmith. She currently qualifies as a journeyman.
Of her father's bastard children that manifest sorcery, she is the weakest by far. She is a passable neophyte illusionist and an almost laughably bad invoker. Thus, despite being a sorcress, she is somewhat of a disappointment. What she has kept secret from her father and everyone else is that she is not just a sorceress, she is also a favored soul of Zarthus.
Naturally, a favored soul of Zarthus is not likely to be comfortable in the political cesspit that is House Gruffyl where she did not fit in well. After years of trying mold her into a spy or soldier, her father has figured the best he could do is have her breed with strong sorcerers. Brigid had long been planning her exit from her father's lands and hearing that her father planned to pimp her out to one of his Fang Warrior, a crude man named Lord Jiro ap Dauli decided to leave sooner rather than later.
She heard tales of a heterochromia Keeper bastard Swynfaredian spies and figured he would be a good place to start looking for an opportunity to get back her father, eventually joining up with Kormatin to aid him against Swynfaredia.
