Antediluvian Palace

The Antediluvian Palace is a historic landmark of Tatharia Capitolina, renowned for its enigmatic history and architectural grandeur. Believed to predate the founding of the Tatharian Empire, the palace has been a witness to the city’s transformation through eras of turmoil and renewal.   When Icaghor, the legendary Lugal, established Tatharia Capitolina, the palace was a dilapidated relic of a forgotten age. Infested with monstrous creatures and partially submerged under floodwaters, the palace was initially viewed as a cursed ruin rather than a symbol of hope. Yet, its potential as a seat of power and history could not be ignored. Icaghor, with his pioneering vision and unrelenting will, ordered the clearing of the palace, spearheading a restoration effort that would take decades to complete.   Over the centuries, the Antediluvian Palace has undergone numerous renovations, each adding layers to its storied legacy. Architects, artisans, and historians collaborated to preserve its original structure while incorporating elements reflecting the evolving culture of Tatharia. The palace’s Labyrinthine halls, towering spires, and intricate mosaics are said to be imbued with ancient enchantments, a testament to the advanced magical craftsmanship of the bygone era.   Today, the Antediluvian Palace stands as a monument to Tatharia's resilience and enduring legacy. It serves as a ceremonial hub for state functions, royal decrees, and historical commemorations. Its grand halls are adorned with relics, murals, and statues that narrate the epic saga of the empire’s rise from adversity.   The palace also attracts scholars, adventurers, and tourists, each drawn by its allure of mystery and magnificence. Rumors persist of hidden chambers, forgotten treasures, and lingering echoes of its monstrous past. Despite extensive exploration, the full extent of its secrets remains elusive, fueling the imaginations of those who walk its storied corridors.   The Antediluvian Palace, a crown jewel of Tatharia Capitolina, embodies the spirit of an empire that rose from the ashes of obscurity to the pinnacle of greatness. Its resilience mirrors that of the Tatharian people, serving as both a reminder of their humble beginnings and a beacon for their boundless aspirations.

Purpose / Function

Situated on the eastern edge of Tatharia Capitolina, this architectural marvel stands atop a large cliff overlooking the Emerald Bay, serving as a cornerstone of both the city’s physical development and its cultural identity. Originally a relic of an age predating even Icaghor’s legendary unification of the land, the palace was at first a ruin steeped in mystery, partially submerged in the Emerald Bay and encroached upon by the waters of the Tath River Delta. Its central location between three modest villages—destined to coalesce into the modern city—made it a natural focal point for the nascent Tatharian Empire.   When Icaghor, the Lugal of Tatharia, discovered the palace, it was already ancient beyond reckoning, its origins lost to Time. To Icaghor himself, who was born over 1,500 years prior during the age of great floods known as the Antediluvian Epoch, the structure was a remnant of an age even older than his memory. For this reason, he and his contemporaries named it the Antediluvian Palace, as it appeared to embody the timelessness and unknowable history of the pre-flood world.   Initially, the palace was a sanctuary for monsters and ruinous forces, its grandeur obscured by decay and danger. However, Icaghor saw in it not only a challenge but also an opportunity. Through conquest and restoration, he transformed the palace from an abandoned ruin into the administrative and spiritual seat of his empire. Its strategic location and monumental stature reinforced his vision of unity and strength, symbolizing the rise of Tatharia from fragmented villages into a singular entity.
