Reservoir of Knowledge

The Old Reservoir

An old, empty ruin beneath Seeblick. It consists of an enormous cavern system of ruins and has long been abandoned.

Description

The structures in the Reservoir are missing details due to the ravages of time and is not clearly distinctly build by any race. It resembles an old town that got either subnk or submerged and somehow ended up completely underground.

The back-entrance

The entry the smuggler's use is a long and narrow underwater tunnel. They call it the "back entrance". It takes a 15 min swim to go through but then it opens up in an underground cavern filled with air. An old ruined building structure sits there, old enough for the stone to have grown around it. Brown and black mold covers the long eroded carvings on the walls. A crack in this structure is the entrance to the Reservoir of Knowledge.
The old ruined building has long since been pilfered by Merida Gray & crew. Its "front" is completely destroyed and leads to an enormous wide cavern with varying ceiling heights (from 1 ft above the head to too far to see).

The Square

The floor of this cavern is uneven filled with dirty puddles and stone. Some walls have an eroded ladder or remnants of stairs. There are even remnants of pillars and in the middle is a destroyed fountain. The cavern resembles a ruined square of sorts. There are a lot of tunnels leading to different parts of the Reservoir.

The upper paths

Left

The left tunnel dives deep into the underground where it is dangerous to slip down and difficult to climb back up. After 15 min it levels out into a split.
Split - right
An aircurrent can be felt from this tunnel. After 30 min it leads to the Dockyard (see below).
Split - left
This tunnel leads to the ground floor of the Hive, near the MotherFungal (see below).

Middle; Waterfall's End

An Arachnite dominated tunnel, but they flee once light comes near. The tunnel stops in a dead-end where saltwater streams from the ceiling into holes below. This dead-end is located above the Hive (see below). The drain holes leading to the hive are filled with Shadow Glass.

The Forest Exit

The last and rightmost path is long and windy. It goes is an unferfound cave that opens up in the forest near Seeblick. Yhe pathfrom Seeblick to this exit has been marked on trees through lightning.

The Library

If you follow the tunnel up north you'll reach a ruined library structure. In front of this structure is were the Musk lily was spotted for the first time.
The ruined structure looks like a partially collapsed marble/granite library or archive that has since become one with the cave surrounding it. The scent of brackish water fills the air.

Inside

Everything here is collapsed and ruined. The stone shelves, tables and chairs are broken and cracked. What remains of the books is mush are pieces that fall apart upon touch. A large pool of foul still water fills the space. The water is covered in a thick layer of brown foam/algae. Some furniture is covered in a Purple Moss.
There is a spiraling staircase that connects the bottom of the space to the top but there is no upper floor. In the right wall there is a hole to a deeper section in the Reservoir.

Hole to the depths

The hole leads to a steep decline leading to parts of the Reservoir deeper below. Here carnivorous plants and the small animals they prey on live.
Further downwards the soggy ground becomes covered in a thin layer of Acrid Marmelade ubtil the path opens up into a large, spacious and dark cavern: the Hive.
After uncovering the Hive m the hole was blocked with the rubble of thelibrary making it more difficult for anything human-sized to go through.

The Hive

The cavern walls are covered in moss, fungus and lichen, but this cavern is too high, too deep, too large to make everything out with torchlight. The enrtance is a steep cliff leading to the abyss that is the cavern and some streams of water run down from the ceiling.
A current surges through the cavern at seemingly random intervals and archs briefly illuminate several spots allowing for people to glimpse what is inside. The cavern is blanketed in a fungal growth and mounds of marmelade are scattered around. Tending to them are the Musk Lily. Seemingly unfazed by the current. This current also violently reacts on impact like a torch falling to the ground electrocuting anyone unfortunate enough to be at the point of impact.
It converges at the back of the cavern at a tree-like structure of rotten matter with festering yellow blobs. The tree reaches from the floor to the ceiling and the blobs contibue along the ceiling as well. This seems to be the MotherFungal, the origin of the fungus.

The Garden

The nearest tunnel to the right turns into a narrow hallway that is difficult/impossible to pass for broad-shouldered people. The walls are clearly wet and smell of mold. At the end of the hallway is a 20 ft ledge. At the bottom lies a pristine garden with lavender and dandelion blooming and oaks halfgrown in the wall. A layer of green grass covers the floor. There is no trace of fungus, not even toadstools. The Garden seems to be a replica of a glade in the forest.
Spread throughout the Garden there are still some roots/grain of Lumicite, leftovers after the smugglers mined them all. Aside from lumicite there is another crystal growing in the garden: Red Glass.

Altar

In the center of the ceiling hangs a large light of which we could not tell the source at this distance. Below the light stands an altar or marble pedestal surrounded by a circle of dried-out bramble. The bramble looks like a dark brown vine with thorns as large as a thumb. It is reminiscent of rosebushes without leaves or roses and looks dead and withered. Underneath the bramble is a faded out Sylvan inscription that reads: "come to find rest o' children of nature, for we.... (illegible)". It appears this garden is one of the Remnants of the Old Ways. Perhaps the entire Reservoir is..
Once Saga approached the altar, the dried-out vine came back to life: another Reflourishing flower. This pink-reddish flower looked like a lamp, it's petals holding a light where the stem would be. Once blooming the the flower spreads a honey-like smell that puts everyone into a magical sleep. The flower speaks in Sylvan with a soft, drowsy voice. It has been slumbering here since a time before the Silence as Yohtga wants it to be there.

The Quiet Room

The next tunnel to the right in the square leads to an even more narrow gap that is difficult to traverse even for normal-sized people. (not for halflings though). At the end of the halfway is a small cavern with the ceiling only 1 feet above the heads of the tall members of the group.
Across the room there are streams of water falling silently from the ceiling into the holes in the basalt ground to deeper below.
The source of the silence spell was a de-headed statue of the Storm Twins holding hands. In their interlocked grasp was a magical necklace called Sirona's Sadness. Once the necklace was removed the silence spell broke. The statue stands on a pedestal making it 1.70 m tall. The material is clealry different from the surrounding stone. Time contorted and eroded the statue.
After the spell broke, the migthy stream below can clearly be heard and it bacame clear that the floor of this cavern was not stable. The noise awoke a hidden creature that lied in wait int he darkness at the other side of the cavern; a large Sea Serpent or at least something serpent-like. It did not spot us, but broke through the ceiling and caused part of the Reservoir to be flooded by the sea. Parts of the Reservoir are now underwater, such as this room.

The Halfling Entrance

Marcus Lightfoot told us where to find the entrance to the Reservoir he uses, but warned that it isn't very suitable for anything bigger than a halfling like him. This entrance can be found by the cliffs east of Seeblick. We have a crude map to this location.

The Dockyard

Marcus told us when going down the first thing you encounter is a pool and the remains of a dockyard with small inlets/caves of old structures in the wall.
He found Sublizards here but not much else.
We entered the dockyard through the otherside. The remnants indeed reminisce of a ruined harbor. The water is crystal clear and the bottom can be seen, The water is fresh (not salt) and 20-30 feet deep. It continues into a tunnel large enough to pass by boat but we did not explore further. The water might lead to an underground stream or even connect to the Abandoned Complex,

Special Notes

According to the smugglers this is the first location the discovered the Musk Lily. This place might be the source!
The reservoir is enormous. Its collapse might cause the entire cove to collapse on itself.
Usually the place is filled with a chilly silence. The only sound present is the sound of water dripping in this humid space. There are little to no creatures areound as far as they know. However we heard a scritching noise of unknown origins that dissappeared as we come closer to it. This is likely to be the Arachnite.
According to Marcus, the dockyard only was inhabited by a few Sublizards but not much else. We did noy see them ourselves.
