Session 17

General Summary

Recap

confusion since its been a while:
went back down with Saga and flower bloomed wanting to be taken along (didn't want to be alone)
trying to give us a "goodnights rest"
Shadowglass info.
The garden flower put everyone to magical sleep (meaning Arti).
We are currently on a timer 7 hrs because of a waterbreathing potion.

Summary

We explored the library in the Reservoir and found a magic pen amongst the rubble. We went deeper through a hole in the wall there and encountered a carnivorous moss that tried attacking us but fled once hurt enough. Futher in the ground was covered with residue of marmelade. This led to an enormous dark cavern with current surging throughout at random intervals. On impact a violent reaction occurs (for example dropped torch). The dark cavern is covered in fungus, moss an so on and mounds of marmelade are spread throughout. At the back end of the cavern (and wegher the lightning seems to converge) is a huge tree-like structure of rotten mass with yellow blobs. It reaches from the floor to the ceiling and we think this may be the big bad thingTM.
Because the cave is to dangerous to go ine (current, darkness, musk lilies and the thingTM) we were discussing if we could just destroy that part of the cavern using bombs. The current plan of action is to explore the rest of the reservoir and hope we can find a good location for the bombs, a dry entrance to bring the bombs in without relying on less than a handful of halfling and get out.

everything is collapsed, stone shelfves and tables cracked
laye of dark smelly water with thick layer of brown foam/algea
a destroyed spiraling staircase that leads to nowhere (merged ceiling)

glimps of occasional stack of books that fall apart on touch
something sticks out underneath broken table

patches of puprle moss around it
green is a crystaline object

saga tugs on it
we use leverage to remove the rock and it takes purple moss with it
nooooo new foul scent unlocked
smell induces drowsiness

part of the caverb is covered by a sort of plant that pulses with light
its a plant growing on the ceiling that droops down and pulses with light
saga wants to determine if its dangeruous
eureka its cave moss - that's carnivorous and strangles peeps
main prey are animals like bats and mold
not a stationary plant it moves slowly
covers 15-20 feet of the cave but there is more cave behind it
saga will poke it with a stick
light turns icy cold blue and the vine whips arounfd to try and grab the stick
passing through: hurt with ice/ zappy/ fire (looks wet)
muir tries lightning lure to tear pieces of
but doesnt budge

we follow it carefully to not get ambushed
hides in smaller nooks until light is no longer visible
spot an occasional body of small animal (or 3) along the way
we continu into the cavern

BREAK

we go further down
soggy ground turns more icky
thin residue layer of marmelade - not the mass like before
we are on the right track
layer does not grow higher or deeper
opens up in cavern with steep cliff and dark abyss
torchlight can make out the walls are covered in blanket of moss, lichen and fungus
rest is darkness
we cannot see the bottom nor the ceiling
we hear crackle of lightning and thunder every few minutes
saga sees a vague current arch in the distance in the cave, briefly lights up smt but not much else
muir senses like a lightning bolt but not natural
it shifts location left right above in the pit below you
a current/bolt that originates at random points in the darkess goes from point A to B then fades out again
it briefly shows moss
it is sporadic and random
one current shows a musk lily they are here
muir throws torch into the pit
light disappears we hear it hit somthing like grass
smoke starts to form
flash of lightning triggered by impact
violent arch across walls
An enormous cavern space with one single blanket of fungal growth
mounds f marmelade scattered here and there jutting out
some musk lilies in between/ tending to
at far back lightning converges at sort of tree trunk of rotten matter that connects the bottom and top of the cave
it has festering yellow blobs on it, just like the ceiling - similar to the marmelade

I think we need more bombs - Bree
some streams of water come down from the ceiling
might be damage cause by the giant serpent that we unleashed
the entirey of the reservoir is below the bay
there might be a hole where we can put the bomb in
arti sketches the cave on a piece of paper
fungus didn't react to the lightning

back at the library

we move big chunks of stone in front of hole to make a bit of a block
somthing humanoid size can not go through anymore
at last know we can know if smt came out
discussion about how to bomb the fungus
how to destroy the fungus - not fond of salty water but spores and root system can survive for years
root system needs to be dup up, poisoned or blow the entire thing up
we don't know what it feeds on - so we can't poison the food source
