History of the Eastern Continent

This is a collection of events that one way or another marked the development and history of the eastern continent and its main geopolitical entities. Because of the Khalimedi Empire dominance over the region, their calendar system is used (year 0 is Khalimedi kingdom foundation and Scoragh's descent).

    Daardai Empire foundation
    Founding

    This event is shown to give the players a scope on how long the draconian empire of Daardai lasted and how ancient it is in comparison to the mortal kingdoms that followed. The particulars of the empire foundation, including the date, are information no longer known by anyone in the known world, as of the start of the campaign.

    Settling of the City of Elements
    Founding

    In the year 1872 BK, an extremely fertile area in the south-west end of the Eastern Continent is settled for the first time, by a variety of Genasi of disputed origin. These villages quickly evolve, forming the nucleus of what will soon be known as the City of Elements.

    Political event

    The Genasi villages established nearly 60 years before unify in the city-state of the Elements, an independent geopolitical organization that, at the start of the campaign (1379 AK), is the oldest remaining and one of the most constant nations in the known world, with 3192 uninterrupted years.

    Eastern Humans migration
    Population Migration / Travel

    1096 years before Scoragh's Descent, the first contacts between migrating eastern human tribes and the already established Daardai Empire were reported. This event marks what is thought to be the first appearance of the human race in the known world.

    Human assimilarion by Daardai
    Political event

    Daardai Empire officially assimilates eastern humans, allowing them to settle cities, maintain their culture and live within the borders of the empire.

    Birth of Shawha
    Life, Birth

    Shawha, the future first Queen of Khalimed, is born.

    Scoragh's Descent
    Disaster / Destruction

    Scoragh's descent is the name of an extremely sudden desertification event that ravaged the eastern continent midland and destroyed the Daardai Empire, burying most of its cities in the sand together with their draconic inhabitants.   The outcome of this event was the complete destruction of most of the Daardai empire, especially the more inland part where most dragonborn were located. After this event, the once warm but fertile land where the draconic empire extended turned to sand, becoming the desert now knows as Scoraght’s Garden.

    Foundation of the Khalimedi Kingdom
    Founding

    In the same year as Scoragh's Descent, some 9 months after the sudden destruction of the Daardai Empire's most inland provinces, the Khalimedi Kingdom was founded.

    Death of Queen Shawha
    Life, Death

    Queen Shawha, founder of the Khalimedi Empire, dies, supposedly 129 years old.

    First Changeling communities
    Cultural event

    Nobody is sure when and how changeling came to exist, but the first recorded appearances of changeling communities talk about small villages in the colder regions of the Eastern Continent, north of the Anklife channel.

  • 881 AK
    Repression of the Many Faces
    Military action

    In the year 881 after Khalimed, just 20 years after their appearance, the Changeling villages and communities north of the Anklife channel were attacked by the Khalimedi Kingdom.

    Khalimedi declares war to the Nomadic Tribes
    Military action

    The nomadic tribes west of the now-called Scoragh's Garden had been raiding the western border of the Empire for decades, but in recent years they had become more insistent and their raids had increased. Unable to continue ignoring the matter, the Sand Council of Khalimed declares war to the entirety of those tribes and prepars to march his armies to the south-west.

    Emergence of Kalashtar communities
    Cultural event

    Like it happened with the changelings, a new race was recorded for the first time in the colder regions of the Eastern Continent, again in one of the lands above the Anklife channel.

  • 976 AK - 983 AK
    War between Khalimed and the Kalashtar
    Military action

    As everyone expected, the war between the kalashtar and Khalimed started. Seven years after the war declaration, Khalimed won once again and wiped out most of the enemy race, destroying their community and forcing them to exile and hide among other human races, with which the kalashtar share much similarity.

    Blood Treaty
    Diplomatic action

    Roughly 200 years after the start of the formal conflict between Khalimed and the Nomadic Tribes that had been ravaging the western borders of the kingdom, the agreement known as the Blood Treaty signs the end of the conflict. With this treaty, the tribes are allowed to continue their life style as long as they do not damage too heavily the empire borders. In exchange, the tribes have to send some of their strongest young promising warriors to the empire to act as auxiliaries in the army or serve the emperor in other ways.

    Vassalization of Enverdoon
    Diplomatic action

    Unexpectedly, the current ruler of the Enverdoon Kingdom swears vassalage to Queen Ashista, now renamed Empress.
