They are known as The Endless, for they are aspects of creation. Beings born and given grand dominion over the realms and virtues of the multiverse. Unlike the deities of other worlds, The Endless live and die by the belief, awe and fears of mortals. They did not create the universe and had no hand in its shaping. Instead, they were born when mortals first cried out to the stars in their deepest loneliness and took shapes that confronted their desires. Dark gods were born of their fears. Gods of life and light awoke from their altruism. Gods of prophecy emerging from their hopes and their dreams. Gods of death sowed from their sorrows. In the early eras there were innumerable Endless vying for the affections and respect of mortals, but as belief began to homogenize, these new deities cannibalized their lesser kin until only the greatest among them remained. The Endless are not absent powers in the multiverse. Their avatars are known to apparate in the material plane, their voice known to speak in times of need, and their power known to flash brilliantly in the darkest hours. They treasure mortal kind, seeking in all things their absolution. However, their domains do incite conflict and trials for mortals to overcome. The Endless are neither malevolent or benign. Neither good or evil. They are not anchored to any universal alignment, but rather, are manifestations of mortal ideals and virtues. Thus they are worshiped in many forms by many organizations throughout the world of Orr. Some of their symbols and invocations are practically universal, while others may be unique to a specific sect.
