Baltizan

Ideals & Flaws

Baltizan is the Endless of craftmanship, law, earth and fire. When Balitzan devoured the minor Endless of these domains in Deus Gloria he inherited mortalkind's ideals to create, work, and for their efforts in all things to be judged fairly. His divine essence resides in the outer plane of Mechanus where it toils endlessly to craft the ultimate Numenara.   Baltizan is a proud spirit who derives great pleasure by seeing new creations brought into the world and for hard work to be recongized and rewarded. He is sometimes called the 'All-Father' by mortals of the world for his demeanor is warm, stern, and honorable. Baltizan's depictions are often of a great titan of flame hammering the stars on a pitch black anvil, imagery associated with the myths of the Azor who are said to be the first of his creations. Baltizan is worshipped primarily by the Dwarves and barbarians of the Painted Steppe, but any merchant, blacksmith, craftsman, or laborer may hold him closely in their hearts.   Baltizan is a beloved and respected god of Orr, but while his fatherly presence is admired it shelters a terrible and furious wrath that few of the Endless can match. When angered Baltizan is much more likely to bring about a landslide or earthquake than to forgive or show mercy. Wars have been born from the anger of the fire god, and few mortals would willingly choose to stand against a knight or war cleric endolled with the righteous might of his fury.

    Temples & Priesthoods

The shrines of Baltizan are often found in marketplaces, workyards and other places of labor and commerce, however many craftsman may have a personal shrine in their workshops where they make offerings and prayers before beginning their daily work. These shrines often include a bowl where offerings are burnt, or a coin box where wages are stored and saved for harder times. Temples dedicated to Baltizan are most commonly found inside the great dwarven Vahls and they are often some of the most decorated and elaborate of all the Canticle temples in the realms with only a handful of exceptions. The All-father Temple of Vahl' Balroc in Drin is said to be the largest Canticle temple in the world with its interior being large enough to host an entire legion of Drin's armies at once. While Baltizan's temples are often stylized based on the local craftsmen of their area they are usually decorated in black, gold, and red colors, and are predominately made of thick stone.   Priests of Balitzan are often war clerics, paladins or veteran soldiers. While Baltizan values and protects laborers his priests are called upon to enact justice, settle disputes, defend the meek and deliver his righteous anger. These priests often do not assist in spiritual matters, preferring that the god's followers instead contemplate their worries and suffering in silence at the foot of Baltizan's shrines or holy imagery and receive guidance from the Allfather's flame welcoming flame.
