Anser

Ideals & Flaws

Anser is the Endless of curiosity, secrets, knowledge, magic and the histories of the world. In the times of Deus Gloria he devoured the minor Endless of these domains, becoming the keeper of knowledge. His divine essence resides in the outer plane of Apocrypha amongst its endless labyrinth of libraries where he watches over the falling obsidian sands of the Sable Glass.   Anser is an aloof and mysterious deity shrouded in secrets. He is often depicted as an elderly man wearing black robes encrust with stars, and chains full of keys hanging from his neck. As the Endless of secrets and knowledge, Anser's followers are often students of the arcane, seekers of mystery, mathematicians, philosophers, wizards, engineers, and other learned individuals whose pursuits are ones of discovery and insight.   Anser is sometimes considered to be a 'mad' deity. A power devoted to both exposing and guarding the knowledge he is the caretaker of. The tenants and tasks he asks of his followers are often contradictory in their purposes, or intentionally designed to result in failure. However, through his insight and guidance many of his devoted have achieved magnum opus works.

    Temples & Priesthoods

The temples and shrines of Anser are often places of learning and study. Sacred places filled with books such as schools and libraries, but his altars and depictions are also just as commonly found in institutions of government and legal proceedings for there is a great need to separate what is moral and emotional from what is logical and factual. Anser's shrines and temples are furnished in colors of black, blue, and white. They rarely have windows facing any natural light, and are kept cool, sometimes even frigid.   Canticle Priests of Anser wear masks and robes to shroud their identities while they perform their services and are forbidden from having paramours once they don their masks. Priests of Anser fulfill a very important role in the world of Orr by collecting information about historic events, familial bloodlines, census data concerning towns and cities, as well as all manner of other metrics by which the events of the world can be measured without bias. They share this information freely between the realms by way of raven rookeries. The priests of Anser are considered such impartial mediators, especially in times of strife and war, that they often hold high positions in a flourished society and are considered some of the most trustworthy advisors for matters of estate and court.
