Yazmin

Ideals & Flaws

She is called the maiden of armor, and the fortress of mercy. She is mortalkind's most radiant qualities given form; Honor, compassion, duty, chivalry, generosity. Her priesthood travels the land as Pilgrims of the White Lilies offering alms, building orphanages, and healing the sick. Paladins and clerics who serve her fight in the name of justice against the forces of darkness that threaten the world. Law makers, judges and even kings pray to her for wisdom in matters of governance and rule. The world is filled with her healing houses, where men go when they seek redemption from their crimes and sins.   Yazmin, the Endless of protection and mercy is a goddess of order and peace. A goddess of plenty. A goddess whose heart aches for mortalkind and who would die defending it. Her divine essence resides in Elysium where she helps bath souls in the waters of Atrium Sol. It was Yazmin who founded the Canticle Faith, and who conducted the angels and solars who sang the Canticles of Light to teach mortals about the Endless and how they might serve them.   She is known across the continent of Oerth in many forms for there are countless orders, institutions, factions, and cults dedicated to her service. These individuals strive to bring about peace, to help men in their darkest hours, and to serve the poor. She is a loving, embracing goddess, but she cannot abide those who stray from the path of light once it has been revealed. She has many tenants on how one must achieve spiritual purity. Tenants which are as rigid as mountains, and which the common man will often dash himself against in pursuing. Only those truly devoted to good works and enlightment can call themselves her follower, and though many try, only a rare few succeed.

    Temples & Priesthoods

Yazmin's temples take the form of healing houses, orphanages, and soup kitchens in major cities. In smaller, rural areas they are nomadic caravans that bring much needed supplies to desperate places, or doctors and surgeons who arrive as neutral parties to aid the wounded on battlefields. Yazmin has no need for shrines or altars in her honor, she asks only that mortals help one another in times of need and fill their hearts with hope and brotherhood during times of peace. In matters of war and strife her servants are bade to lift their blades only to defend the helpless, but never to make an unneeded enemy of their fellow man.   There can be no wars if there are no soldiers, and there can be no soldiers if mortal hearts are pure and at peace.   The priesthood of Yazmin wear blue, white, and gold in her honor. They take no paramours. They do not drink spirits nor poison their body in any way. They do not swear or conduct themselves rudely. They live as penniless as they are able. They give their lives to aiding others. They do these things so that their reward may not be one of material wealth, but one of spiritual treasure, for if they have followed the Canticles of Light with earnest their final destination will be in Elysium.
