Tybrus

Ideals & Flaws

Tybrus is the first of the Endless to be named in the Canticles of Light by the angels of Elysium, and is believed by many to have been the 'first' of his siblings to manifest and assume the powers of his domains. For this reason he is often called the Grandfather god, and his depictions are often of a frozen monolith of ice slowly unthawing beneath the stars. While Baltizan is credited for creating the stars of the universe, Tybrus is the god who placed them into the heavens and formed the cosmos.   The domains of Tybrus are vast and shared among his kin except for the domains of time and destiny. During the events of the Cataclysm the world of Orr was torn asunder and fragmented into infinite possible timelines. It is believed that Tybrus is the only being who has seen each and all of these outcomes, and he alone who can predict with this knowledge how the events of history will unfold. To perceive the future and not interrupt its course Tybrus must guide the world from a great distance and with a touch so soft as to almost never be felt. Some of the priesthood of Tybrus even claim that in ordering the stars he has already completed all of his great works and that the miracles and magic that his followers call upon and request were gifted long ago, arriving exactly when they would be needed. This claim has also lead many to believe that the god of time is in fact already dead and that he did not even survive Deus Gloria. This strange paradox is supported by an ancient group of scrolls written in the first age by the explorers of Aardwulf called the Lost Sagas which claims that the corpse of the god of time was found by the hero Jordkheim at the end of the world in the Outer Night of Ancorran.

    Temples & Priesthoods

Temples of Tybrus can be found in nearly all nations across the continent of Oerth, but appear most often in larger cities and settlements. They are often, large stone buildings with windows facing east and west so that the rise and fall of the sun can be seen as it goes along its journey. They also will include skylights from which the moons and stars can be properly viewed and used for council. These temples are places of community and contemplation. A place where philosophy is encouraged to be studied and where elders of the community can be sought for their wisdom. They are homely locations with warm hearths, fur rugs and comfortable seats.   The priesthood of Tybrus value wisdom and age over all other attributes and are encouraged to study the arts of divination magic, astronomy, gardening and cooking. The priesthood wear the colors of white, blue, and silver in honor of the god of time, and often carry gnarled walking staffs or the emblems of a bearded tree to denote the Endless they serve.
