Control
Control is a founder of the Adventuring Group known as The Abnormals.
Born in 728PS, Control is the son of an Orcish woman and the Giant Tiefling, Conquest. At a very young age his tribe was slaughtered by his father's forces from The Lasran Marshes and his mother was killed in front of him, luckily a patrol of Royal Legion soldiers were in the area and rescued the young boy, taking him to a nearby village to be raised by the Ealdorman and his wife.
Tragedy struck again however as his village was destroyed and raided by Giants from The Cavalier Mountains at the age of ten. Trekking across the country with the rest of the survivors, he made his was to Kaviri and began a life on the streets, stealing and begging to get by.
Six years later, barely beyond a child, he crafted a fake name and identity, one Christopher Dirigir, and joined up with the Royal Legion and began a career with the military. Moving through the ranks up to Captain after nine years, he would prove his worth helping the Legion deal with giant incursions, raiders from the Marshes, and the minor Dwarvish uprising. He would later be assigned to a leadership position in the Kaviri City Watch, and it would be here at the age of 30 he would meet another tiefling by the name of Hope, and after a summer of romance the pair swiftly married and settled into their Kaviri home.
Five years into their marriage, Control would be promoted again, being given leadership of the militia of the small town of Oakenfair, which bordered the Lasran Marshes. Control was picked specifically for his role battling giants and swamp raiders, both of which often harassed the town. Due to these attacks however, Oakenfair was incredibly wary of outsiders, especially those with such 'terrifying' features as the tiefling couple.
The pair was met with hardship and isolation in the town, none wishing to be their friend, none wishing to welcome them to their new home. One day, while Control was on patrol, their home caught fire, perhaps from the summer sun, perhaps from more nefarious means. Control rushed to the blaze and attempted to put it out, receiving no aid from the other citizens of the town. As the blaze died out, and the screams of pain from a trapped Hope ceased, something inside Control broke, and he would never be the same.
Control was given a mandated leave for his loss. A temporary Captain assigned to the town. For the next several months, Control wandered the world, traveling through continents, processing his grief and his heartbreak, building his rage and resentment, and developing a hatred for humans. During this time wandering he met and had a brief affair with a tiefling woman named Compassion. Which would unknowingly result in the conception of fellow Abnormal Rose.
Upon his own request, he was reassigned his role as Captain of Oakenfair and he continued his role for the next few months in a fugue state, going through the motions of his role with no life, no vigour, just slowly brewing hatred. One night he would discover a brass Dragonkin being assaulted by a human citizen of the town. After the citizen flung steams of abuse at Control for trying to diffuse the situation, Control snapped and ran the man through with his glaive, killing him instantly. He extended a hand to the Dragonkin, who introduced himself as Alazzar, and the pair set off to meet with the nearby Giant clans and establish an alliance.
Control offered the giants some of the riches of the town, a new place to stay, and provision to butcher or enslave as many as they wished, as long as 1/3rd of the citizens and 1/4 of the guards were left alive to ensure there was subjects for his new Kingdom. After the giant's slaughter of the majority of the town, Control styled himself as the new King of Oakenfair, claiming the town for his own and seceding from Phosana, fortunately this aligned with the The Phosanan Coup and so Control's kingdom was left to its own devices.
For many years Control and Alazzar ruled the town, forming it into a grand fortress and inviting all manner of criminal and 'monstrous' figures into their domain. Periodically in his reign he would leave his citadel and travel, looking for a potential way to bring back his wife. After ten years as monarch he would find a solution and raise his wife to rule beside him.
Ten more years as a tyrant continued, subjugating the small population of humans in his 'kingdom', and welcoming more and more dangerous folk, until eventually it would all start to crumble. Hope had fallen ill, a result of her resurrection, something to do with a cursed temple in the jungles of Cherna. Upon the success of this adventure, he returned to his home and found it destroyed, burnt and razed to the ground, with no hint of survivors.
Boarding a ship, he sailed to Elentaria, hoping to find his former friends and spouse. It would be in the town of Falldale he would meet the other adventurers that would eventually form together to create The Abnormals. This group travelled and adventured together, until eventually they headed to Swordbreak, and Castle Amath, where Control reunited with Alazzar.
Upon information from his newly rediscovered ally, the Abnormals headed to Trezzo, finding his ally Hylax],(person:f81502f6-9b0f-4a23-9920-a08cda271b41) and wife @[Hope, who was in a clean bill of health, and the new mother of a baby, Control's son Glory, along with a pair of adopted Aasimar twins, Ima and Sofi.
Having reunited with his family, Control decided to help his fellow Abnormal Ruby Wright avenge her family, before potentially settling down. As the final blow against The Bitter Ring was struck, sudden shock hit as Hope had fallen ill again. Control vowing to save her life again, headed off to the Bonshall Woods in search of a temple to Azdur that Layla Baird told him could hold the key to saving his wife.
The Abnormals defeated the corruption in the temple, and cured the plague that had caused his wife to fall ill this second time. Through information gathered while attempting to save Granny Whistlegrace, the Abnormals set a course for Phosana and Control went home for the first time in over a year.
Upon landing in the city of Brasmana, the Abnormals was attacked by Malice and his soldiers, and was forced to surrender for fear of their lives. Shipped off to Peregot Prison, Control discovered that Malice was his half-brother, and finally discovered the name of his father.
The familial revelations wouldn't stop there as it was revealed that his travelling companion, Rose was the daughter of Maria Ingen, the woman known as Compassion Control had had an affair with many years before. The pair broke the news to their allies, Control's wife Hope taking the matter well and welcoming Rose into the family.
