Maria 'Compassion' Ingen
Maria Ingen is the deceased mother of Rose of The Abnormals. She took the virtue name Compassion as is expected of Tieflings.
Compassion was an Elven Tiefling who lived the vast majority of her life in the small town of Ekport.
Compassion's mother fled her home of Lor Anoch during the countries Civil War between the King and anti-Empire forces. Her mother had hoped to reach further south, but passed away in the small coastal town of Ekport due to illness caught on the road. The infant Compassion was then left in the care of the town.
Compassion grew up in the town and established herself relatively comfortably, working as a florist and gardener in the small town. In 764PS the town was visited by another tiefling, who gave the name Idos, and went by the virtue name Torment . Torment and Compassion had a brief affair, during his visit to the town, resulting in their daughter Innis Ingen, later known as Rose.
Torment left the town before he was aware of Rose's birth, leaving Compassion to raise Rose alone. When the girl reached the age of 12, Compassion arranged for her to be sent to the Forsarth Institute for the Betterment of Education in the hopes the girl would rise above her meagre beginnings in life.
Compassion spent the next six years rarely seeing her daughter, only during holidays and other special times her daughter was home. She always looked out for the return of her former lover, hoping one day he would return and care for Rose as her health declined. Compassion had become afflicted with a terminal disease, hiding her illness from her daughter and passing away in late 783PS. She was buried in Ekport by her daughter and her community.
