Hope
Hope is the Tiefling wife of Control and former 'Queen' of Oakenfair.
Hope was born in Kaviri to a Human. Her devilish heritage came as a surprise to her family and they abandoned the baby at a city orphanage.
Hope's young life was fairly standard for a Kaviri orphan, bouncing between orphanages and schools, eventually leaving at sixteen. It would be here she was taken in by a gnomish woman, to work as an apprentice and florist. Hope would spend the next several years here until she met her future husband, city guard Control, living at this point as Christopher Dirigir.
The pair had a whirlwind romance and swiftly married, eventually moving to the border village of Oakenfair upon Control's promotion to Captain. The two settles into the small town and immediately became aware of the towns hostile attitude towards outsiders, especially those with non-human features.
Only a few months into their new home, the house they were living in caught ablaze, whether accident or intention, nobody attempted to help Control fight the fire and so Hope, who was trapped inside, tragically died.
It would be ten years later that Hope found herself back in the world of the living, Control and his new ally Alazzar having found and performed a ritual to bring her back to life. Hope was shocked to see what her husband had done in her name, enslaving the town, inviting in Giants and other 'monstrous' creatures, and ruling with an iron fist. Hope however understood his motivations, and the reasons he chose to do what he did.
The pair ruled together for ten years until tragedy struck, a curse affected the land and Hope fell ill, seemingly due to her resurrection ten years prior. Left in the care of Alazzar and her bodyguard Hylax, Hope watched as her husband left on a quest to save her once again. It would be several months until she was healed from this illness, a blessing, and it was revealed that Hope was in fact pregnant, and had been the whole time she was ill.
As Hope waited for her husband to return, watching as their 'kingdom' slowly fell into ruin due to Hylax's rule, the fortress town was attacked by untold hordes from The Lasran Marshes, led by the figure known as Malice.
Hope fled along with Hylax, struggling to run due to now being heavily pregnant, but managed to board a ship and the pair set sail, hoping to go wherever would be safe. The pair landed in Trezzo, with Hope having given birth on the way, naming her son Glory in the tiefling tradition.
It would be in Trezzo that Hylax fell ill, seemingly a complication with his near mended wounds, and Glory would soon follow, having been born weak due to his mother's illness for much of his pregnancy. The pair was found living on the streets by Ezdel Godarion and The Idealists, and taken in to their care and nursed back to health.
As Hylax rose through the ranks, Hope took on a educational and caring role for the many children in the Idealist camp, raising her own son and adopting the twins Ima and Sofi after their father, Ezdel, was killed. It would be here that Hope was reunited with both her husband Control, and dear friend Alazzar, them having heard of rumours of similar figures through their connections in the Almussi spy networks they had a hand in.
Hope would travel to Cypren with Hylax and other Idealists when they was asked to assist with the assault on The Opperice Club and The Bitter Ring. It would be in this city where the death curse that had affected Hope over a decade ago resurfaced, and her friends and allies headed to the Bonshall Woods to save her.
