Oakenfair
Oakenfair is located on the border of The Lasran Marshes and The Independent Merchant Nation of Phosana.
Oakenfair was established as a simple village of primarily humans as a border post for the original Kingdom of Phosana, due to the importance of its location it was always sent a Captain of the Royal Legion to oversee the local militia and help ward off attacks from giants, lizardfolk, and other creatures from the marshes.
In 762PS, Control was appointed the Captain of the town, bringing his wife Hope along with him.
Oakenfair was an insular community, not trusting of other races due to their exposure to the monsters of the swamp, and so the new tiefling Captain and his wife were treated as outsiders by the town for their entire stay there, which led to the death of Hope, as nobody helped extinguish the fire that took their home.
One day the abuse and the struggle was too much and Control snapped, collecting an army of giants and other societies from the swamp, he took the town, allowing his forces to butcher and kill as many of the town as they pleased, bar the 1/4 of the militia and 1/3 of the citizens he had placed a mark of protection on.
Usually something like this would be swiftly dealt with, however the coup of Oakenfair was near perfectly timed with the coup that would exchange the power of the throne, and turn the Kingdom of Phosana, into the Independent Merchant Nation, the new rules deciding to ignore the problem while they dealt with problems closer to home.
This luck allowed Control to build up the village into a fortress town over the next 20 years. Establishing it as a place of mayhem and hedonism, a sanctuary for those who were considered outsiders, monsters, or freaks, assuming you wasn't human, and paid respect to the new King.
Around twenty years into this reign, Control had to leave his 'kingdom', on a personal quest, and it was during his absence his lieutenant Hylax was placed in charge. Letting the power go to his head, Hylax allowed standards to slip, checked in less with scouts, didn't keep up with wall repairs, and so the fortress was attacked.
Hordes of creatures from the Marshes attacked, led by Malice, who turned the giants that were living amongst the citizens against their masters. As the survivors fled towards Phosana proper, they were rounded up by The Phosanan Might, and taken away to be imprisoned or killed.
Oakenfair stands now as a ruin, a cursed place with a dark history.
