Almus, The Tenth

Almus, The Tenth was the nation that defected from The Waukan Empire. Its defection was deemed as the final nail in the coffin for the The War of Emperors.

Almus recently ended a war with their neighbour Dalry, The Thirteenth which has turned the national conversation to the succession of Duke Gerard Amath. The Duke having two twin sons, three bastards, and a daughter from a new marriage it is unknown who will support who. There is a saying in Almus, when the Duke coughs, the Vicounts draw their swords.

The Almussi Crest is a Golden Crown on a field of green.

Structure

Almus is ruled by it's Ducal family the Amath's, and the current Duke Gerard Amath. The Amath family have ruled for centuries and were the ones who betrayed The Waukan Empire to The Dawn Empire.
Below the Duke there is two families who run the other two counties of the Duchy. The Counties of Lunaris and Gorgill are run by Earl Ayden Rose and Earl Ralph Marshall respectively, with the third county of Draycott being run by the Amath family.
Taking the standard government arangement from the Empire the Duchy places much control in the hands of local Mayors and Lawmasters who are responsible for the day to day runnings of the smaller settlements in the Duchy.
The Duchy also has two permenant court positions: The Court Mage Lusia Le Moal, who is in charge of all matters arcane in the Duchy and The Field Marshall Corwin Dullum, who is responsible for the armies of the Duchy.

Almus follows The Faith of the Dawn as all of The Dawn Empire does.
