Kyelev
Originally part of the Empire of the New Covenant, the aristocrats that had controlled the region formally seceded in the wake of the Catalyst War. Kyelev is a collection of counties, largely still ruled by those same aristocratic families, that all pay fealty to a hereditary monarch.
In its early days, however, a lich known as the Shadow Tyrant seized control of the fledgling nation and used vast undead armies to cement his rule, which lasted nearly a century. It wasn't until a crusade from the nearby Dominion that the lich was destroyed and the old monarchy and aristocrats restored.
Today Kyelev is in a delicate political state. Several countries have decided to overthrow their aristocratic leaders and govern themselves, and only the current ruler's apathy has allowed this to go unchallenged. In addition, a recent civil war between two of the counties has left vast swaths of land a desolate wasteland.
