Venus

Venus is the second planet of the Sol System. It is named for the old Human goddess Venus, a deity of love. The planet is classed as a toxic world, with extremely high atmospheric pressures making surface habitation extremely difficult. Planetside mining operations are conducted via orbiting mining stations, but there are also a number of floating research facilities suspended above the planet's clouds. The planet is viewed as a potential terraforming candidate by the United Nations of Earth, especially after the success of the Mars project. Partial terraforming projects are already underway, particularly altering the upper atmosphere to make it breathable to Humans. All of these operations are supported by an orbital of the Sol Habitat Complex, which hosts both habitation and scientific research labs.
