Human
"Life is to be lived, not controlled; and humanity is won by continuing to play in face of certain defeat."
Humans are a sapient bipedal humanoid species that originated on the continental world of Earth. The species originally developed as persistence hunters, taking down prey far larger than themselves by simply chasing it for extremely long distances. A specialised cardiovascular system, long legs, and efficient heat regulation allows Humans to run for extremely long periods compared to most other species. This endurance allowed the species to spread across an extremely varied series of environments early on in their civilisational history, including scorching deserts, tropical rainforests, arctic tundras, and isolated islands. Although Humans display only minimal personal adaptation to new environments, their overall biology allows them to inhabit every environment better than most.
Compared to many other species, Humans have an exceptional capability to throw objects with both force and accuracy. Even before the current iteration of Humans evolved, their ancestors developed efficient throwing capabilities in order to hunt from a distance. Additionally, Humans are able to eat a wider variety of food more safely than other species, thanks to a robust internal biology and gut microbiota. This myriad combination of mobility and robustness allows Humans to live in a wide range of environments, and has developed a somewhat nomadic culture of moving to new destinations.
Statistically, Humans are some of the largest consumers in the galaxy. This is most prominent in the United Nations of Earth, which has a very large civilian economy, but is also present in the Commonwealth of Man and other non-Human-dominated polities. Some xenosociologists believe that Humans do not engage in significant long-term planning, both on an individual and society-wide basis. While not a widespread theory, it has gained traction within many non-Human societies.
