Sol Habitat Complex
The Sol Habitat Complex is a large spaceborne habitat complex located in the Sol System, and is administered by the United Nations of Earth. Initial construction of the complex began in 2262 CE over Jupiter, and the main administration orbital was completed in 2267 CE. The complex is one of the largest habitat complexes in the galaxy, featuring nine major orbitals and fifteen minor orbitals. It has a mixed economy, with major mining and energy production facilities, but most of the population are employed in white-collar office jobs.
The Sol Habitat Complex was the first of its kind constructed in the UNE. When the project was first proposed in the early 2270s CE, an orbit over Earth was selected as the Complex's main administrion. However, it was ultimately changed to a Jovian orbit to act as the 'gateway to the outer planets'. Although the Sol System has had spaceborne habitation stations since the late 21st century CE, the Sol Habitat Complex represented a major leap in scale. Construction of the full, system-wide complex took over a decade to complete, and has undergone several major renovations in the decades since its initial construction.
