Hamish Troutlung

Saltkrigere General Hamish Troutlung (a.k.a. The Negotiator)

Hamish Troutlung (or Hamish the Negotiator) was to lead the Shellbay colony after the departure of Kanel Logratte. He had autonomy in his decisions, but was to send communications back to Kanel as well as take the Baron's decisions as law, should he want anything specific.   Hamish was cunning and unkind, wanting no more than to see the The Strand-Blood Cult suffer as they were the last remaining cult of Jurejun, and his brother had died in the first siege of the island. While there was little to no evidence that this particular family had anything to do with the sibling's death, he wanted to know that his vengeance was certain.   He was not fast to abide by Kanel's wishes though, and as such was never made a Baron of Shellbay. Rather, he was forced to maintain his status as a military general, when his biggest desire late in life would be to leave the military (and to save his family from that fate as well). As revenge, he would do anything he could to prevent the Lograttes from getting their way which mainly manifested by blocking desire to expand into the Icelands.   He was quite popular among his own people and ensured positive ties with the Tara-Jhen, at the complete cost of relations with the Naga-Tel, Thanids, and Kaban. This did not concern him though, as his only interest was the Quai.
