Augustus I

King Augustus I (a.k.a. Augustus the Conqueror)

Augustus I was the second King of America from 1802 until his death in 1811. The younger brother of Henry I, Augustus ascended to the throne at the invitation of the former, becoming the second sovereign from the House of Hohenzollern. He was accompanied by his wife Elizabeth Louise and his sons Crown Prince Louis Ferdinand and Prince Augustus the Younger. He quickly enacted policies that were much more severe than his brother's. During his reign, the power of the Federalist Party diminished to the benefit of the Libertarians.

The conquest and settlement of the Louisiana Territory is, to be frank, a matter for the American crown, and not one from Europe.King Augustus I

Despite his great age and diminished health, he refused to abdicate and became the first monarch to die on the throne. He was succeeded by his son, Augustus II.
