The first major incursion of Trolls into the land brings horror and warfare. The Houses unite to fight the creatures wherever they are encountered. Keeps and townships are destroyed. Edregard I took the throne during the Deeper Darkness at the age of 11 years old.
His reign was entirely defined by the struggle against the Trolls and he died without seeing an end to it.
Originally known as "The Boy King" he had earned, by the end of his life the epithet of "The Warrior King"
Armindal II was known as the Lightbringer for in his reign the Deeper Darkness was ended.
Elderan, Prince of Kaevil was the eldest son of Edregard III , and married to Riala of Genlith According to rumour she was the lover of Ruthven, Count of Malmor and was betraying the secrets of the royal house to their enemies. This rumour holds that it was the hatred of Ruthven and Elderan that led to the conflict that follows
The civil war began due to the ambition of Ruthven, Count of Malmor who desired to expand his territories and had been forbidden to do so by Edregard III . Ruthven raised his banners alongside House Raendor and House Caervil in opposition of the Royal House. The remaining Houses, House Tyaldi , House Genlith , House Greendale and House Orloi remained loyal to Edregard
Rand, Prince of Kaevil , the second son of Edregard III vanished at this time. Rumours abounded that he had fled the war or turned traitor. These rumours were false. He died of wounds taken in honorable battle and was laid to rest in an unknown tomb with his sword Peacemaker
Edregard III was killed in battle on the fields outside the city of Sildern which was then sacked by the Dawn Alliance. The Oath Keepers retired to their own lands, defeated but with honour.
Riala of Genlith , wife to Edregard III 's eldest son Elderan, Prince of Kaevil , vanishes from history at this point. Some say she returned to a distant hermitage to live out her life in penitential self sacrifice
