Troll Rise

The first major encounters between mankind and Trolls took place at this time when the monstrous creatures began to emerge from the wilderness to prey upon outlying settlements.   Forming unified bands, the Trolls laid waste to, and claimed, large areas of the land.
At first caught unprepared, the various Houses of the land soon banded together to share resources and knowledge and drive the Trolls back as best they could.    The final great battle of the Troll Rise took place in 514 but this was not to be the last plague of these creatures.
Following the end of the Troll Rise,  a century or more of smaller raids and incursions, the Dark Years began
