Darkening Years

Approximately one hundred and fifty years after the end of the Dark Years, and the last sighting of Trolls, evil rumours began to circulate from mountains and hills that foul creatures were stirring again in remote places. At first dismissed, the scorn of mockers turned to fear as once more Trolls and other dark creatures began to appear and ravage the land. They never came in great numbers though, nor did they remain in one place for long.
The Knights of Kaevil once more rode out to confront the threat wherever they could, and other heroes arose to protect their homes and lands. Erikol, Wolf of the North was one such, and he encountered Aelsynda of the Elves while confronting a warrior of the Trolls during this period.
Despite the courage of such heroic defenders, the Trolls grew in number and their appearances became more constant. 
The Darkening Years became the Deeper Darkness in the winter of 795
