Riding out in small bands, each covering a wide territory, the Knights would offer protection to settlers and those in need regardless of their land of origin or which House they owed their allegiance to. They were respected in all the lands of mankind and their steadfastness encouraged and inspired many other warriors to take heart in the long century of skirmishing. Following the end of the Dark Years, the Knights of Kaevil were reduced in number, but a core of one thousand of them remained and became the royal guard of the The Royal House of Kaevil after 659 when Aldemar I became the first king of the united lands. They served in that role until The Sundering when many fell in fierce battle with the forces of the Dawn Alliance.
