Deeper Darkness

A period of open conflict between the forces of mankind and the Trolls that formed into batallions with Trollkin and other foul beings as their soldiers. While not a period of endless warfare there was never a year, barely a season, without conflict from the winter of 795 onward. Cities were besieged and fortresses reduced to ruins. Mankind became hard and used to hardship in these times and many are the tales of heroism and despair that come from this period.
Edregard I became King as a boy during this period of conflict, and died as a veteran warrior of a poisoned wound taken in battle without ever having known a time of peace.
His son Armindal II, the Lightbringer, became the figurehead of mankind's resistance and with the Knights of Kaevil, the armies of the seven houses, and employing the wisdom and magical arts of House Orloi and others, he led his people to a desperate victory - the trolls were driven back and using arts little understood even by those who employed them, the trolls were bound from returning.
