Efinian Empire
Efinian Empire is one of the biggest and most powerful countries in Yastr. It is a predominatly human country, but one can find elves on the Empire's territory as well as dwarves. The latter are mostly present in the northern province at the feet of the mountains.
Demography and Population
The majority of the Empire's population lives in the counties of Efinia and Schweier located in the west and south-west of the country. Those are the ancestral lands of the Efinians. Counties of Marin and Vindo are right behind them in population.
The Central Province is the least populated area of the Empire. This region of the empire is mostly rural and only has a few larger towns and cities.

Administrative Reform
In 1712 AD the Empire underwent an administrative reform. Its purpose was to bring the old feudal system into a new, a more meritocratic one. Old feudal vassal realms were replaced with provinces administered by professionals and not hereditary nobles. Many of the vassal realms were merged with each other creating the central and eastern provinces. After the northern expansion, the new lands were made into the northern province.
The four biggest counties remained as they were, but the role of counts was limited to a representative one. Those counties are Efinia, Schweier, Marin and Vindo. Those are considered the ancestral lands of the Efinians.
Northern Expansion
What is known today as the northern province has always been the main source of resources the Empire needed for its army and economy, but they did not control it. The area was ruled by independent dukes, counts and city-states. About 50 years ago, in 1716 AD, dwarves from the mountains were trying to monopolize the trade there and become the only middlemen between the northerners and the rest of the world. The Empire didn't like that and decided to secure the resources.
The divided northern lords had no chance of winning against the imperial army and most of them surrendered without a fight.
Technological Level
During the last 100 years, new technologies have appeared in the Efinian Empire. One of the most important ones was the steam engine. It allowed the creation of new industrial machines and mass production of goods began. At the same time, universities were expanding and new ones were being founded across the Empire.
