Tiefbucht Fortress
Tiefbucht Fortress, located on the east side of the entrance to Tiefbucht bay, is one of the most important military installation in the Efinian Empire. Its cannons can fire at almost every ship passing by or entering the bay. The fortress also acts as a high security prison where the most dangerous criminals in the empire are held.

Architecture
In the centre of the fortress stands an old castle built in the times before the invention of gunpowder and modern siege equipment. The walls surrounding the main castle building were reinforced to be able to withstand artillery fire. However, that wasn't enough and the walls were surrounded by a second wall with bastions. The bastions are made for both cannons and riflemen.
When the the high security prison was located in the fortress, additional buildings were built around the main castle building to house the cells and additional guards.
Defenses
The fortress is meant as a mainly coastal defensive position. As the result, most fortifications are facing the sea while the land side is where the supply is delivered. However, it doesn't mean the fortress is defenceless from the land. There are still artillery bastions and the approach is filled with the so-called wolf holes filled with sharp sticks and covered with branches and leaves.
From the sea the only way to land and breach the fortress is a small harbour made for patrol ships. However, getting to it is almost impossible. Ships are very likely to get sunk by the fortress' cannons or naval mines that can be quickly deployed if an attack is incoming.
