Session 12 Report

General Summary

Follen 6 Redfall 834EA

The party woke, refreshed, and decided to set out west towards the Lyushin Wilds in search of whatever Suiadan Innion’s dreams had directed them towards. [Pōtiki seemed fatalistic about the chance of them all simply dying in the process.   As they headed towards the Zapad Gate, they heard arguing. There were two men, one, an expensively dressed human, and a half elf. The human was saying ‘You promised to take us!’ Bain de Soleil enquired after the situation, and found that the half-elf had promised to be the human’s guard on their travels to Tolyapol, but his allies hadn’t shown up to help, and he felt the road was too dangerous for him to do it solo. Bain starts talking to the two men and smoothly convinced the human to take on the party as a new set of guards, and increased the promised price to 350GP each as the road was clearly unsafe. She performs a small magic trick for the children in the back of the cart, which draws the attention of one of the guards at the gate. He asks her if she has papers, which she shows him, while his colleague guard, Barvia Craghold tells him to lay off 'you can't just interrogate everyone who does a harmless bit of magic, Arofinas!' She waves they group through apologetically and Shu waves at her earning him a large grin from the dwarven guard.   The party set off with the family. The man was called Bryson Antovia, his wife Lavinia Antovia, their daughter was Jen (Jennivere Antovia), and the son was Luc (Lucca Antovia). The family was nice, but wealthy and woefully unprepared for travelling on the road. During the time it became clear that they were used to using magic to travel. They were leaving Grechia to visit with Lavinia’s father, who they got the sense was some sort of mage.   The first day was no problem, Harthe kept the children entertained by pulling simple magical pranks on the parents. Bain tried to investigate the goods that the family had, but there was nothing of interest, and she shook her head at the curious collection of supplies they had gathered for the journey, most superfluous and highly impractical, while vital essentials were missing. That night the group talked to Shu about his ‘lady’, Shu explained that she is ‘back home’. When Pō asked if she sent Shu to this place, Shu replied “in a way,” and that she wants Shu to do something, to deal with “something dark.” Pō laughed sarcastically at this point, saying “Well I wonder what that could be.” But when asked if that was what was in the West, Shu was unclear but said he believed this to be the case. Pō shared with the group that she had information from her bird friends that there was also trouble brewing far in the northeast, but they agreed to continue west for Shu first.

Sonden 7 Redfall

The next day the group passed by a merchant cart coming the other way who warned that the road was washed out further ahead and they’d had to go around. Harthe tried to steal from them but their goods were packed tightly. The merchants seemed a bit nervous but sold the family some essential supplies for the rest of their journey. They seemed anxious to get going though so the trade was swift. The party decided to forge ahead. Harthe sent Pip to go investigate, and instead discovered there was an ambush laid ahead of them.   The party sent the family to hide with the cart further back. Shu transformed into a crocodile and started swimming up the coast to surprise the ambushers, and the rest of the group disguised themselves to look like wealthy travellers. They boldly walked in and sprung the trap. The fight was ruthless and cleverly controlled by a spell from Bain which kept several foes incapacitated for much of the fight. Pō absorbed a soul from the Bandit Captain, taking them to full, and also, when using their new sickle, yelped and dropped the weapon as they were suddenly overcome with a wave of emotions. There was one survivor at the end of the fight which Bain and Harthe offered to let go if they told the party where the foes’ loot was, but the person tried to run, and Shu killed them. The group found the loot anyway, which was 100GP and a black pearl worth 500GP, along with 20GP on the body of the Bandit Captain and 4SP on each of the other bandits. At the bandit camp, they also found a note in the captain's tent that said: 'Prevent travel to the Lyushin Wilds. -Y'. The party got their charges to come with them and make camp there.   In the night, Pōtiki performed the ritual to Kuzmjir. Pīpī and Hāmua both helped, and the ritual went well. Pōtiki felt a strange sense of peace and harmony after the ritual. The party slept.
