Session 10 Report

General Summary

After the ritual, Berinon Pratov told Pōtiki that Kuzmjir had ordered him to gift them something. He went to a back room and returned with a sickle and told them that it was stronger than theirs and would be more useful to them. The sickle (a +1 weapon) had a fancy black hilt with a diamond shaped ruby encrusted into it at the bottom. They thanked him, and with Harthe, Bain de Soleil and Suiadan Innion, left the temple.   They returned to The Gambling Wolf inn and once again, Suiadan refused to go in. He turned into a fox form and went to hunt rats to eat, later curling up in an alley again to sleep for the night. Pō, Bain, and Harthe went into the pub and Lodwig Pavlok called Bain over and passed her a large wrapped package, telling her that a cloaked figure dropped it off for her earlier that day but did not leave a name and was unable to be identified. Suspicious, Harthe casted detect magic as he was concerned it may contain magical traps. He found that the package contained something magic, but was unable to discern if it was trapped or not. He told her to be careful with it. They ordered meals and took it over to a table. Pō moved as far away from the package as possible when Bain started to open it. Inside was a large musical instrument, a bandore. Delighted, Bain started to play it while they speculated who might have dropped it off for her, and ate their meals. Eventually they all went up to their respective rooms to sleep. Pō first having a go at praying to Kuzmjir before turning in for the night.

The next morning, Harthe, Bain, and Pō woke up very early and had a quick breakfast. They began to discuss their plans for the day but Bain told them that she had plans to meet a friend in town and would join them later that evening. They agreed to meet back at The Gambling Wolf, and she farewelled them. Harthe and Pō finished their breakfast and Pō pocketed some to take outside to Shu before they both left to meet Shu and discuss plans with him.   Shu woke up to find a small sparkling rock in his hand. Though he had not seen one like it before, nor did he know where it came from, he could tell what it was [gem of brightness], and used it instinctively, releasing a burst of bright white light which blinded him for a time. He stumbled around trying to find the nearby inn his friends were staying at, bumping into walls all the while. Pō spotted him walking into the wall of a building a block away just as they and Harthe stepped out of the inn. As they reached Shu, his vision began to return, though he still got a fright when Harthe tapped him on the shoulder and asked if he was ok. He told them that he just saw his love, but they did not understand and changed the subject to their plans for the day and near future.   Pō gave him the food they had saved for him for breakfast, and as he ate, he told them that he needed to go west as his dreams had been telling him. Pō was conflicted as that is where they are from and they were scared by what Kuzmjir told them and that Hāmua and Pīpī told them that they were not strong enough to deal with the trouble with their patron yet. Pō told Shu that they could go west but not too far west and if necessary, they should run away if things go bad. They all agreed though, to wait till the next day as they did not want to go without Bain.   They headed to the Rynki District to do some shopping. Shu was immediately drawn to a stall selling various meats, cheeses, and fish. He bought several pieces of pork from the stall's owner, Adelaide Bolderdown. He told the others that he planned to cook it and feed the poor. Harthe commented that it was very noble of him but probably would not be enough to feed all the poor, but Shu was undeterred. He then went and bought some spices and seasonings from a spice stall owned by Falk Bladewalker. Pō and Harthe bought some rations for the group from another stall. Pō visited a clothing stall run by a tiefling named Torment and bought some boots and some new lilac clothes that matched their hair. Pō then found a stall selling pastries. The shopkeeper, Catherine Writtingham sold them 12 different pastries. Pō tried each of these but shared some with Harthe and Shu for lunch.   They spotted the more permanent shop The World's Wonders and see Bain outside. She told them that her friend did not show up so she joined them as they entered the store. They were greeted by the proprietor, Isabella York. Shu found a book on the shelf called Enquiries on the Animals of Savagery: A Study of Creatures Fair and Foul. This book gave advice and tactics against certain types of creatures. It was in mint condition and he paid 50GP for it. Harthe studied all the tomes and scrolls in one bookcase and bought a scroll of presdigitation and some ink. He also found a map of Iklarel and a map of Grech and bought these along with a map case to protect them. Pō bought a potion of healing and asked to buy another but Isabella said she only had one and would have another for sale if they returned tomorrow. Pō said they were not sure if they would be in town still tomorrow but would return if they were. Bain took interest in some glasses with blue lenses and Isabella explained they were eyes of charming. Bain was interested in buying them but balked at the price and put them back. She asked if Isabella needed any materials that they could fetch for her in payment for the glasses but though the shopkeeper did mention that she needed some supplies from the Lyushin Wilds, they were not worth the cost of the glasses. Pō also shuddered at the mention of the Lyushin Wilds.   The party left the shop and Harthe ventured off in search of someone who could do some tattoos. He got led on a wild goose chase for quite some time but found no one. While he was doing that, Shu, Bain, and Pō left the city walls via Vostok Gate and entered Trushtown. Shu created a bonfire in the centre of the district, which he was ordered by the guards at the gate, Gulmek Silverbeard and Alfonso Petruna to put out as it was at risk of burning the nearby shacks and tents. He did not put it out but he magically reduced the strength and size of the fire and assured them it was under control. They returned to their post, but sent other guards from the wall to stand by on firewatch. Shu cooked the pieces of meat he had bought and served them up to the various poor residents of Trushtown who were drawn by the delicious smell curiosity about the fire and the elf cooking at it. The meat disappeared quickly, consumed by the crowd, and Shu extinguished the fire and quietly left back toward the gate, with Bain and Pō in tow. Gulmek demanded they pay the entry toll of 15GP but Alfonso told him they had only just come through a matter of an hour ago. He let them through but could be heard arguing with Gulmek about the rules, Gulmek insisting that everyone passing through the gate into the city had to pay the toll. Shu tossed back 3 gold pieces toward them but these were quickly snatched up by one of the Trushtown beggars.   The three found Harthe after his fruitless search. It was fast approaching night time so they decided to find an inn. They decided they would prefer to find a new place to stay for the night so that Shu would be able to eat and sleep inside with them. Bain led them to an inn in the Doki District, considerably more rowdy so less favoured by her. The Dve Chashki patrons were initially suspicious of the group as they enterred but did not give them trouble. Pō noticed some markings on the doorframe but did not understand what they were or what they meant and shrugged it off. Bain asked the barkeep, Arryn about rooms and food and negotiated a cheaper deal for her and her friends for her minstrel services. She played some tunes and the crowd noticeably calmed down, while still being boisterous and loud.   The four venturers enjoyed their meals, though Pō seemed noticeably listless and distant, so Bain asked them about it. Pō explained how they were very confused and bewildered by the news they had received from the ritual at the Grechian Temple of Kuzmjir the previous night and told them about her patron, Te Tauheke o te Wairua. They offered sympathies and advice but were not able to come to clear solutions. Shu noticed that many people were enterring the kitchen of the bar, but not coming back out. He tried to investigate but got stopped by a large orc gentleman. Bain diffused the situation with a chat with Arryn and Shu sat back down at the table.   Harthe noticed a halfling man with an elaborate tattoo of a wolf on his shoulder. He introduced himself to the man, who told him his name was Perin Greenhill. Harthe asked him about his tattoo and where he got it. Perin told him about a sailor, Khorlos Vagolvath, captain of The Kingfisher  who does a side-gig tattooing from a shed on the docks when he's ashore. He told him that Khorlos happened to be in town as of two days ago and should still be there tomorrow. Harthe thanked him and ordered him a drink and one for himself to drink with him. After a few sips of his second beer of the night, he began to feel funny and his vision blurred. He got up but was very wobbly on his feet. Bain noticed and caught him and acted like she was teaching him to dance, to draw attention away from his drugged state. His vision started to clear again quickly but he felt something or someone brush against him around his coin purse. He instinctively reached out and grabbed the retreating figure but was not able to catch him apart from a fetching scarf [glamourweave scarf]. He and the rest of his friends checked their pockets and found none of their valuable items missing. Harthe put on the scarf and they all agreed it looked very fetching.   Pō went outside and found a tree to sit by. They were greeted by Hamua and they talked to the owl. Hamua expressed anger about the deception and offered support to Pō. Pō promised that they would deal with the problem. Pō returned to the inn and the group all turned in for the night.
