The Cadenar Expedition - Campaign pitch

The Archon has finally negotiated terms for establishing a Church of Harmony (henceforth CoH) presence in the city of Marûagir on the eastern continent of Cadenar. With the promise of not only building a church, but rebuilding a derelict district, an expedition is assembled at the ports of Bonear. Led by Grand Cleric of Nimic, Theodore Justice, representing the harmonic pantheon and the interests of Gardelinden, Kaggan of Blackhills representing the Chained Pantheon and the interests of Ortal, and Grand Magister Strigoi Ockritus Grandovic representing the Gardian Academy of Magicka, Enchantments and Rituals (henceforth GAMER).

Other factions flock to the Archonate in hopes of joining in on the fleet going east, and many buy their way in. Through rumors and official announcements, you know that the following factions are already joining the fleet:

• Gorlovoye, and thus: Reavers.
• The following factions are going with the CoH and Gardelinden factions:
  • The East Armada will be providing transport and protection for the church delegation.
  • Amberron will be joining with two ships when the fleet passes by Cravv.
  • Priestesses from Our Church Below the Sea joins to ensure the safety of at least the main ships.
  • 3A is hired to serve as guards.
• The following factions are going with the Ortal faction:
  • Priests of the Chained from the Caldera.
  • The Crystalline Fleet provides transport and protection at sea.
  • Pitch Black Brigade sends a small regiment as Kaggan of Blackhills' personal guard.
  • Lord Fenrick Fraud has sponsored an envoy to establish an orphanage in Marûagir on his behalf.
• The following factions are joining at the behest of Magister Grandovic:
  • Asonian fleet of Famell for transport.
  • Mayor of Bargas' Trade Company
  • GAMER's Exploration Society
• Bank of Dorbat will have envoys on a hired White Claw ship with mercenaries.
• The Preston Family of Port Wastrel has paid to join the fleet with one ship of their own to represent the interests of Lowe.
• Torp Weltseele on his ship Claudius joins for the sake of adventure.
• The Archonate's Chapel of Valferan has paid an extreme amount of money to join, as they originally were expressly forbidden from going.
• A group of dragonborn from the Ashlands in the Archonate is going as a pilgrimage, as Cadenar is considered by many to be the homeland of dragonkin.
• Marûagir has sent two ships to the Archonate to lead the fleet back to their city.

What do people know about Marûagir?

Marûagir is practically a free city state in the inner ocean of Cadenar. People of all races (albeit mostly humans) and walks of life try their best to rise above their fellow citizens in this town known for its degeneracy and rampant criminal organisations. The new Lord Overseer, just recently having seen the light of Harmony, believes he can set the city straight with a proper church presence. Though some city districts have joined the Lord Overseer in his optimism to change the city, the majority is still run by slavers, criminal syndicates, and pirates who will be difficult to convert.

Culturally, the city is extremely appreciative of sword fighting, and considers the different fighting styles to be works of art. Theater plays here are often just elaborately choreographed and long sword fights, both nobles and commoners may call for a duel to settle disputes, many institutions of learning and study teaches fencing first, reading and writing second. Talented bladesmiths are in high demand to produce the finest swords, and many a jeweler base their entire business on hilt decoration.

Marûagir was recently at war with a neighboring city state named Kavivil, who breached the first line of defenses of the city and sacked some of the outer districts. After the Lord Overseer pushed the aggressors back behind their own borders, a truce was put in place. The Cadenar Expedition now sets out to rebuild and rule one of these sacked districts, so that the Church of Harmony may join the Lord Overseer in his crusade against crime. The construction work is already under way and a new grand temple of Harmony should be finished not long after the expedition arrives.

You are joining this fleet for whatever motivation you may have. Are you a member of any of the factions already joining? Are you a member of, or perhaps the leader of your own faction? Do you plan to be a stowaway on one of the many ships? Did you already come from Marûagir and are part of the fleet's escort? Or are you paying for passage in hopes of finding new adventures on a new continent? What about the other players, do you know them? Whoever you are and however you plan on getting there, you are going to Marûagir along with the greatest expedition the world has seen in over two millennia.
