Samvara is the most ancient of lands, home of the first cities and the first faiths. They will proudly inform you that when most continents were still inhabited by wandering nomads, Samvaran monarchs were commissioning archaeologists to study the rubble of past cities there. Rocky deserts in the west and center are shielded by massive mountain ranges and supported by inland lakes larger than some countries. Sweeping plains and large swaths of arid hills emanate outwards from these deserts before slowly growing more humid on the fringes. By the Eastern coast, Samvara becomes a lush humid forest.
Many know Samvara as the land of gods, for it is the cradle of many international faiths. What gods you worship and what you believe exists are markings of community here, and most wars take on a nasty religious bent. This is also the home of
Alchemy,
Druidism (known here as Alkoa), and a very diverse human-dryad-prism-solar population. Magic is not common here, but it is an integral part of society and a marking of power and status.
Several unique social structures are found here as well. The
Kima Cities , known derogatorily as 'Hive Cities' are vast underground complexes carved out through centuries of dedicated effort. Part mine, part fortress, part urban center, the Kima are marvels of architecture and urban planning. In the massive peaks of Ekedum in the West, these Kima link together to form a massive semi-subterranean road and city system connecting Western Samvara. While the empire that built this has turned to dust, the roads and cities remain a wonder of the world.
In the West,
The Khilaia is the grand capital of the
Selkies based in the two western
islands of Motosui and Okailu. Here is where the Test of the Depths is held, and where selkie pelts are granted by the heavens. As the center of Selkie culture and politics, the Khilaia is a massive port center that hosts endless swarms of selkie fleets that trade, raid, and travel to and from it.
In the North, there is
Aysha , the sun tower, goddess of truth and mercy. A living lighthouse with the ability to grant blessings of her own design, Aysha hosts the largest sedentary community of
Solars in the world. A center of worship and pilgrimage, Aysha's capital city of Suwirsha stands as one of the most magical cities on the planet, pristine and untouched by war or famine.
Samvara is massive. A peninsula 1800 miles and ranging form 45 to 430 miles across long curls out from the North and envelopes the Emeras sea, with only the 2 mile wide Straights of Sefim opening it to the Western ocean. To the East, land continues for 1072 miles before reaching the Eastern ocean and trade lanes to
Desmia. In the large central section of land, 3 inland bodies of water mark the central valleys: the massive Lake Samariv in the North, the Twin Yaram lakes in the center, and the massive inland Dasaran sea.
To the West sits the peninsula-continent of
Larazel , with
Garadel beyond. The great equatorial region of Avetem sits to the South (with
Sonev beyond), and
Desmia lies Eastward.
